Film Awards Season
I don't want to make it too Hollywood-centric, I know that the BAFTAS are coming up and everything. In any case, here are the nominees:
2007 Academy Awards - The Oscars 2007 British Academy for Film and Televion Arts - The BAFTAs Are there any other lists I'm missing, please post here if so or just let us hear your comments. I'll start off with the Oscars by saying that I'm beginning to realize how Clint Eastwood films are not so great. As well, EMILY BLUNT WAS ROBBED!!! |

oooh a danish film is up for best foreign language film of the year
i'd even watch it if it wasn't for mads mikkelsen playing the lead - he's also playing le chiffre in casino royale, which is one of the many reasons i won't be watching that either... |

Ah well, we'll both lose out to Mexico's Pan's Labirynth Hmm... I just noticed that all of the other nominations from Canada in the category of "Best Film in Foreign Language" is from the same director, Denys Arcand (Quebecois represent!). One other thing, this year's Oscar's will be hosted by Ellen Degeneres (sp?). Hopefully she'll do alright but IMHO, I think they should just call Steve Martin. |

I really don't understand how every film Clint Eastwood makes can become best movie material unconditionally. His last one, Million Dollar Baby wasn't even Oscars material let alone worthy of best picture.
Must have lots of friends in the academy methinks. To me the Oscars mean absolutely nothing today. The level of the films considered has dropped quite badly in recent years. They're usually boring and rubbish films. Crash was the final insult. |

Babel - what a load of crap! The Japanese storyline was bizarre in a bad way and the Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett one was melodramatic. Amores Perros was good, 21 grams alright but the director really went downhill in this one.

Yeah, so did the academy...good actor
Ahem, I really dunno what to say since I haven't watched any movie nominated, not even Little Miss Sunshine. We always see the same people in there though...same ol' Clintwood (sic), Nicholson, Scorcese, Blanchett, Streep, Winslet etc...oh Judy Dench was missing, not that she wasn't invited/nominated. Even the same sound editors and documentary directors. At least Scorcese anf Morricone got very well deserved Oscars. But Saw III would better each and every one of those films ( so people say ) |
