Massive Online Multiplayer games. Perdition?
Nice, huh?
As of the past days, I've gone into the most wonderful of addictions: Final Fantasy XI Online. The whole thing is, to lack of better words, YOUR LIFE IN PIXELS. Let me explain. You start off, of course, chosing a character of the race, size, job, and some minor characteristics, of your choice, to later off choose a city to start living in. Taken apart the fact that you must make your job a worthy one by raising experience points on it, the interesting thing is that you INDEED need money to live. God knows you can earn money in any way in that game: from whoring your character to fishing to making appliances to fighting your ass off in the open field. That without also adding that the more quests and missions you take on, the more famous you become, and more people want you in their "parties" (which are groups of people that join to make experience points for their jobs). FFXI Online is a small world in itself. After having learnt about this game I dug deeper into the world of Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. It really is interesting how most of them reflect life in itself. But while I'm a fan of these things, I wonder on your opinion. My experience is, FFXI Online is life-swallowing. What do you think about the existance of these kind of games where you become a player amongst thousands? |

darje, very interesting. I should get myself FF XI, and try to whore myself around to earn money. Something I probably won't do in real like, but hey, that's what games are for - to have fun and experience something different from the real life.
By the way, there is a virtual 3D chat room, which I don't visit, but a lot of people do: http://www.habbohotel.com/habbo/en/ You might be interested. You can get yourself a room, put furniture in it, go to clubs, hotels and stuff. Maybe some of you will like it. |

katbeidar, I was joking when I said you can whore your character. Altho' some smart-assed Japanese guys HAVE put their characters armor (there is a WEDDING armor, for crying out loud. It's all purdy and stuff, but it's worth 1.4 million Gil, which is, needless to say, a whole load of money I would probably use to buy something more useful) to display only so people send them money just because their armor is the coolness.
Anyway. Didn't know you were into RPGs! |

One'd think you're as transparent as a murky river, girl, but whatever.
Anyway. Anyone else, some input? |

Yes, Nataku, you have to buy the game. Truth to be told, you also have to pay 13 dollars a month and one more dollar p/character you hold in the game. It's a game without ending, held by servers so that if your connection burps or the light goes out, you don't lose your items. It's a fantastic game, actually, since it doesn't have an end, you can go away and know without much anxiousness that your friends in the game (because since it's a massive multiplayer online, it also has chat modes) will be there and you'll have fun AMONGST your friends. Some links: Official Site One with good tools... A generally good one... |

Aaah I really wanna play this game! Can I see screenshots anywhere? It sounds really good.. but paying for it.. Hell no! Btw, I love Final Fantasy.
I used to play this MMORPG named "Graal".. Lol! I remember those days when it was still free.. I got to know so many people, and even though the game was really about fighting and stuff, all I did was get married and post stupid messages on the chat! I loved it though.. there were so many funny things going on.. I remember when we found out the game was gonna be Pay2Play, we stormed the bridge in the game and stood there yelling "WE DONT WANNA PAY TO PLAY!" and crap like that.. We also sent gay porn to the founder of the game because it was his choice to make us pay. Yeah, we were stupid.. but it was fun |

QueenBee... I don't think that was fair. Do you know how much does it cost to mantain 30 servers that maintain about 20,000 people online every day? It really isn't only cheap, it is also more like an appreciation tribute to the awesome programmers that did it and keep it going on for years. Or do you think that Final Fantasy XI Online wrote itself?
Click! Here you go. Some screenshots. |

Vicious, I wish I could... :P But seriously, one MMORPG is kind of enough.

Ahhh, the game I have been waiting for quite some time. I have already started preparing for it's release on PS2. I have DSL now. This will be my first experience with online gaming. I just can't wait!

I'm was hoping that a few of my friends get into to it but since they don't like monthly fees for anything I probably just bum a world pass from whoever I can.

FFXI. Frustrations is all I have. I'm on Sylph. I want an empty server so people won't see my die in the first 17 minutes!
