Vanilla Ninja from Estonia
A brand new (for many of us) group from Estonia. Four rock-guitar chicks with excellent vocals and great tunes.
Check out their new album Blue Tatoo! Vanilla Ninja - Blue Tatoo (2005) [ca 70 mb] As well as: Vanilla Ninja Official site (in German) Get the Blue Tatoo single VIDEO here [26 Mb]. A pretty cool video, I think. I love the song too! Enjoy! Big thanks to Nath for providing this material and a server!!! |

Thank you Nath and Olga! I'm currently downloading the album here.
I knew the band from back when I was in Estonia in 2004. Radio stations kept playing one of their songs which was a hit in Germany and some other countries, though I don't remember its name Estonians have some real good bands, one of them being Blacky (www.blacky.ee), though their music is not on the Internet (not that I know of anyhow). They sing in Estonian, and they're a pop-rock band made up of 4 women and 1 transvestite and they all play their own instruments. I've seen them live at two different festivals there and they rock! Can we try to find a server for their album too? It would be worth it, I promise. I can ask my girlfriend to turn the tracks into mp3's and upload them. EDIT: Oh oh, I remembered the name of the V.J. song I heard: "Liar" |

They're really not that new though. They had a couple of hits in Germany, Switzerland. One is a cover of the old White Lion "classic" When The Children Cry - paraphrased as When the Indians Cry. They didn't claim it was their own song, did they?

They are new for me and for many other members here. I don't know anything about their covers. I don't think shey'd claim anything like that. They are not desperate as they are doing pretty well. Yes, I saw, they had a lot of German gigs.

They changed the song a little bit from the original, that's why I'm curious whether they claimed it as their own song or not. I don't think we've reached the point when somebody would just "steal" a well-known song and claim it as their own. Maybe a variation on "When The Children Cry", then.

spyretto, We are not into Vanilla Ninja here precisely - we know more about Tatu, hi-hi. Maybe KQ's girlfriend can do a research. She got to know a lot more about the group than us all together.

Ok, I can ask her to do that. What exactly do you want to know here? More about the band generally speaking?

KillaQueen, Yep, I think looking through the booklet will help. For me it doesn't matter that much. They are cool to listen too.

wow, the whole topic of Vanilla Ninja!
So Olga, you became a fan of them, huh? Not bad taste! I like to listen them too. I have also their first album. I can share the songs with you, if you are interested in. Just tell me, where I can upload them. And Thanks for the new album, Olga and nath! Though I have to say, I dunno anything about the "When The Indians Cry"-cover thing and if they claim it to be theirs or not. I guess, if you go to the forum of the official site, you get the info about that. But my friend has both of their original albums. I can ask her, if she knows anything about it. And sweetie, I knew Vanilla Ninja is gonna represent Switzerland this year. I told that to you, remember? So don't underestimate my knowledge |

What happened to the love, baby? You've "addressed" me with that baseball bat a little bit too often lately I mean when you pop into this forum, almost every message you post for me has that angry smiley with the baseball bat. Me's sensitive, you know that... |

Yeah the album is not bad after all, like soft metal. I had it before but never got to listen beyond the 3rd song.
So, are we all in agreement that we're gonna vote for Cool Vibes in the ESC? I like it when this happens: 2005 Switzerland - Vanilla Ninja 2004 Cyprus - Lisa Andreas 2003 Tatu ( who else ) 2002 cant even remember 2001 Greece - Antique 2000 Latvia - Brainstorm |

There is not much information in the booklets, just the lyrics of the songs and some photos. Vanilla Ninja started quite successfully in Estonia and then they managed to break through into the West - they are popular mostly in Germany, Switzerland, Austria. David Brandes is the guy who is their producer now and has also organised most of their gigs. If you, guys, are going to vote for Vanilla Ninja in Eurovision - it would be great!!! |
