Listening to The Mars Volta, a recommendation from a friend who went to see them.
They're ridiculously influenced by 70's psychedelia but not bad I gotta admit if you can stand 10-min long songs. Good to hear songs with guitar solos for a change

My Friend Matt and I burned a CD for one of the Lawyers I work for and it's the "Best Emo Songs on the Radio" so for all of you that are wondering what the hell emo is... Go download these songs and you'll have a pretty good idea of what modern emo and scremo sound like.

Finch - Letters to you
Brand New - Sic Transit Glory... Glory Fades
Fall Out Boy - Grand Theft Autumn (Where is your Boy?)
Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down Offtop:
I hate Dashboard because they are a bunch of poser, emo wannabes... but Matthew got his way in the end. So here they are...

A.F.I. - The Leaving Song Part II
Coheed and Cambria - Bye Bye Beautiful
Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body
Finch - Perfection Through Silence
Hawthorne Heights - Ohio is for Lovers
Jimmy Eat World - Work
My Chemical Romance - Helena
Something Corporate - Space (Acoustic)
Story of the Year - Page Avenue
Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under the Influence
Yellowcard - Empty Apartment (Acoustic)
My Chemical Romance - The Ghost of you
American Hi-Fi - The Art of Losing Offtop:
again... I don't consider this band emo, but Matthew wouldn't stop bitching...

Sum 41 - In too Deep Offtop:
same as above

Something Corporate - This Broken Heart
Jimmy Eat World - The Sweetness
The All American Rejects - The Last Song

Hardly any of those bands are emo. AFI? Coheed?? They couldn't be less emo if they tried!!

according to who? You Mossopp? When was the last time you talked to an emo kid? They might not be considered 'emo' in scotland, but in Southeastern New England and DC (which is where emo started)they are considered to be a part of a new sub-genre of emo.

Just because you've gone 'sXe' doesn't make you a know-it-all about music. And since when has Taking Back Sunday not been considered emo? AFI, Coheed, MCR, and The Used are all Scremo Bands, which is EMO. Go to WBRU and hover over 'Music' then click on the link for "The List" and you'll see a list of the top 15 emo bands.

Woah! I wasn't expecting you to be insulted. I was just pointing out that most people don't consider AFI to be an emo band. Conversely, I never said that TBS weren't an emo band. I actually consider them to be the best example of an emo band.
And why would the fact that I'm straight edge make me a "know it all" about music? I didn't quit drinking to be 'scene'. I gave up alcohol because if i didn't stop drinking I was going to die! It has nothing to do with music.
You are the only person here with whom I can have an intelligent conversation about music. Please don't destroy that.

'Disenchanted' is the only one I have. I've got a live video of a clip of it and an mp3 of the entire song.

i met chris carraba and he's a 4'11" punk. his songs sound the same and he's not a good guitarist. they're also pretty bland. he thinks he's all that just cause he became the american poster boy for emo but he's really not emo. i mean, he had the main hit for the movie Spiderman and the song sucked!! sigh. shows how much ppl love his faux emo ass. the two songs he has that are alright is Screaming Infidelities (before everyone played it 29040218 times) and The Good Fight.

love this song. kind of sad in its own way.

everything else is also pretty emo LOL good taste, i must say
