Placebo.
so, do we have any thoughts on them? maybe even some fans? i must say i am absolutely IN LOVE with their "without you i'm nothing" album (one of the best albums in music history!). i just got their fourth album today, "sleeping with ghosts" and it's pretty good. better than "black market music", in my opinion, but i still think "without you i'm nothing" is the masterpiece.

O YESSSSSS!!!!! Placebo is WONDERFULL!!!! Oh..the lyrics, the sound, the performance...WOAAAHH!!!!!! O my...i can't get enough of it!!!
Edit:When i listen i could`t belive the extraordinary combinacion of a dark kind of love with the unstraight and stronge way to express feelings. Has anyone been to a concert? |

damn, everyone should get "without you i'm nothing"!!! it's like being in a trance... it's so full of feeling and the melody/lyrics... the sound generally is just breath-taking.
crni: that's how i started liking them, when i heard 'every you every me' as soundtrack to 'cruel intentions' (awesome movie, by the way!). and i bought the album. if you liked that song, you should download also: "brick shithouse", "you don't care about us", "burger queen", "ask for answers", "allergic (to thoughts of mother earth)", "pure morning" - guaranteed pleasure to the ear!!! |

oh, Placebo
Great band, I was hooked on Without You I'm Nothing for months and months, when it came out (98) It's a bit too depressing but a masterpiece, like Manic Street Preacher's "Holy Bible" ( another gloomy one )
About Sleeping with Ghosts: I think it's a cool album too. I don't agree with people who say they've lost it. I'm enjoying it bit by bit, so far I was hooked on "The Bitter End", then "Daddy Cool", then "Special Needs" and currently I'm hooked on "English Summer Rain". Today I listened to "Protect me from what I want" and it sounds a lot like older Placebo, although a bit too repetitive but great all the same. They have their own style and they are one of the most important bands around ( I think ). Both lyrically and musically. And they're quite a heavy band ( when they want to ) Brian Molko is a genius. Without You I'm Nothing is highly recommended to anyone who would enjoy dark, beautiful, gloomy, occasionally heavy music with thought provoking lyrics that border on gay sexuality |

Daddy Cool
is the bside of the single "The Bitter End". It's the cover of the dance kitsch classic but heavier.
Bulletproof Cupid is very nice but no lyrics. I can't say I'm very fond of This Picture. Centerfolds is nice and different. I've listened to the others too but not too much. |

i like Placebo very much!yeah..Brian Molko!!
I couldn't hear the new cd yet but i think "The bitter end" shows a nice "change" in the sound. .... There is a cool version of "Without you i'm nothing" whit David Bowie |

i like it too, zebu... though the song itself was maybe too personal for me and now seeing the vid, it feels differently... so i try to watch the vid as little as i can so that i keep MY personal meaning of the song intact hehe.

LOL
Have you actually seen the video? Only the low quality works but I don't think it's x-rated. It's a word play because he has that x-ray thingie. ( x-ray, x-rated, see? ) There's nothing shocking there

Placebo - the 2nd band after tATu I'm absolutely in.
Apart from their first album, the other ones are good and the latest "Sleeping with ghosts" is definitely the best so far. "The bitter end", "I'll be yours", "Protect me from what I want", "Special needs" - great songs. About 3 weeks ago I've been on their concert in Stuttgart and they rock. If you have the chance to attend a concert, do it, you won't regret it! An concerning the new video, it's here on the music channels and it's good but nothing special about it... |

Yeah, I saw them on Graham Norton tonight, performing This Picture and the little interview with Brian Molko...very funny show, Kyle Maclaghlan, the other guest( wrong spelling but I can't be bothered ) was pleasant too - unlike Keanu Reeves or whoever.
I like This Picture now that I listened to it a bit more..I think it'll do better than The Bitter End in the charts, I expect it to be Top 5 for sure. We'll see... Things are improving musically, rock is back, great albums come from where you don't expect them ( Tatu, for example ) bands like Placebo and the White Stripes are back on form and generally I like the state of things musically at the moment. Who said rock is dead? P.S. I don't have their first album but Nancy Boy is a good song, I think |
