On iTunes, there's an album available, "Hanna Pakarinen - Lovers" with 11 songs including the ESC one. Someone may be able to find it somewhere.

Well, the question was: "what do you have to say to people who say your song is an ode to homosexuality?"

Answer: "I have no response to that, if you listen carefully to the song it's about normal people and not gay people, but I have all the respect for them because it doesn't matter who you go to bed with, and as we all know Eurovision is a gay festival"

The show she went to will be aired in Greece tomorrow but a rival channel (Alter tv) sent a reporter there and got a mini interview which I'm uploading on youtube.

Then the Greek presenters were saying that she's totally unapproachable, maybe she has a problem with the way she looks, that she doesn't believe what she has done when she looks herself in the mirror, that she's a bad kid, that as much talent she has as a singer such a problematic character she is, didn't feel like talking at all, didn't keep her promise about their agreement for the interview which was supposed to take place in the studio and not outside, that she seemed totally indifferent and she doesn't know how to handle the media. Yeah, just that
also that they heard a runour her girlfriend accompanied her in the tour - contrary to what she said about gays.
So there you go

I think it's nice that eastern countries have been able to join up and rival the "old biggies". And honestly, it's not like the west hasn't been winning. Finland won last year, and Denmark in 2000. Allthough there have only been eastern winners (I dunno what you want to call Greece. Iron belt-wise it's a western country tho
You can count Finland as a Western country and you can count Greece as a western country in that respect too. Yes, it's in the Balkans and in the East but apart from their generally good relationships with their neighbours there is no other reason the East would vote for Greece.
Consensus in Greece is that we came generally unscathed from the onslaught of the Western countries and should be crossing ourselves for getting 7th place. Also that whoever goes next year is up for a tough time for sure.
The Eastern bloc is very hardcore and this year it became very obvious . Like the Greece-Cyprus thing only 10 times bigger.

Thanks for that, what is the link of the official top 200 please? The UK chart company and BBC only have the top 40.
Dancing Lasha Tumbai will be a huge hit in Europe and Eurovision is making the headlines again after a very long time.

Verka is definitely in the top 30 officially, as for the others I think they can make the top 200 but are not eligible for the top 40 unless the singles are released in a physical format on top of the downloads.
And Shooch have a huge hit, who would have thought, 3 weeks and still in the top 10

Thanks Estboy

I'm uploading something on youtube for the Eurovision fans, this is from the Graham Norton show on the C4 and was recorded a few days before Eurovision - but was aired the day after I think.
Graham Norton does an acapella Eurovision contest between France, Ukraine and the UK. Special judges are Gerard Depardieu and Tori Amos

is youtube slow or what. lol

Not so fast, at the moment it's limited to the UK, i'm not seeing anything in other main European markets.

So far, only Scooch has managed to enter the European chart at #17 (it's the only song available everywhere in Europe), we'll see if any other ESC songs follow next week.

I can definitely see Russia's entry on the charts simply because it's a catchy song sung by 3 cute girls, lol. Also because it scored so high.

The fact that Verka's song is on that list really surprises me, it's a great Eurovision song but I never thought it would make its way beyond Eurovision unless it had been the winning entry (which would mean it would've been played over and over and eventually everyone would just forget about it).

Also, thanks spy love you like always

funny thought, less than 5000 copies? downloads? is enough to make Verka Serduchka enter at #28? The charts are definitely not what they used to be, saleswise...Tatu sold hundreds of thousands.

The Eurovision songs resemble the top 40 type of song more and more every year, so it doesn't surprise me about any of those ( maybe France is a little surprising but definitely not Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Georgia or Sweden.. ). But where is Turkey? It's absence is evident given the fact that the UK gave them 12 points.

Offtop:
you're welcome QueenBee I know I can count on you as my number 1 - and only - fan.

From a European point of view, Ukraine's Verka is like Crazy Frog or Holly Dolly, a catchy/annoying tune that works well as a ringtone to drive your co-workers crazy. It has the potential of selling a lot for that reason alone.

Russia's Serebro could potentially be the pop girlband similar to Sugababes or Girls Aloud and capable of selling in Europe that Russia has been waiting for, they could succeed where Via Gra has failed miserably (changing girls every week and not being able to pronounce 2 words of English correctly didn't help). I don't know if their manager is planning anything outside Russia though, and we've seen with Tatu that Russian managers are not very good at promoting their acts in Europe anyway even when there is a great potential.

LMFAO!

I agree Haku. They could do quite well in Europe. Possibly be the 2nd girl band to leave Russia since t.A.T.u. I think TEMA had that chance had they not blown it with Maugly Jr...but thats another story.

HELP: Does anybody have a HQ vid of Verka's performance at Eurovision or screen shots? I want to make an animated avatar but all the videos on Youtube (as with most) have horrid quality. If anyone could possibly help me with screen caps, I need ones from the very first part of the song where he and his dancers are dancing and waving their arms in the air. (So hilarious)

Thanks

Talyubittu, creepy! I'm making an animated avatar out of Verka's performance too.

Anyway, Lauiii posted a HQ a few pages ago (sorry, too tired to search for it now)

Edit: I've got the screencaps if you're patient enough to wait, haha (must upload them first)

Edit 2: http://www.sendspace.com/file/51j6z3 I only got like 8 images from that intro, though, even though I held the button down.
