Mossopp, when pressing ctrl+alt+delete, press "Processes" and you'll see the programs you really ARE running. All of them. Then maybe we'll find a stupid one.

mossopp, it's in the middle folder.. the one named something like "running proces", and better warn you the list might be long. Perhaps if you can do a print screen and send it to either rosh directly or mail it to my mail and i'll host it. Unless you're up for the typing of course.

did you update both spybot and adaware before running them? A friend of mine skipped that option today and therefor didn't get her problem fixed right away.

Mossopp, on your keyboard there's a button that says "Print Screen" (or some kinda shortcut like Prnt.Scrn.), and you click on it. Then you go into a picture editing program, it can be anything simple such as "Paint" and press ctrl+v. There's the screenshot.. Now you just save the pic and show it to us.

Oh and don't worry - we're here to help.

Mossopp, download SnagIt, it will make you a screenshot.

mossopp: scrool the list so that you can see it and press "prt scr" /"print screen" it's a key at the keyboard.. then go to your image editing program.. like paint or similar and insert (crtl + v) and save the file. My mail is: blyat@tdcadsl.dk and just attach the file. Not inserting hotmail since I don't know what format that will arrive.. hehe. If possible .jpg

Ok, I'm attempting to send you these screen-shots via email but I dunno how sucessful this is gonna be cos I swear I've never sent an attachment in my life!

yeah..

Oh hotmail part was because the mail can only take files smaller than 2 mb So never mind that part. The mail listed should so fine. It's the paperclip if in doubt.. the icon for attachments.

Mossopp, if you tried anti-virus and ad-removers and pop-ups still appear, I would go for Kazaa. If you have a full and free version, it's propped with data-miners. Uninstall the thing and check if your comp. will work better or not.

P.S. Normally data-miners and viruses are not displayed in the running processes window. They are written in a way not to disclose themselves.

Mossop, if I were you, I'd burn all my personal files like mp3 and movies and what-nots onto a CD and then reinstall Windows. I think every University has a free Windows XP installation CD available for loan (at least our Canterbury University has)... so, burrow it, and reinstall the whole thing to save you the trouble of deleting individual programs and reinstalling them without even knowing if it'll help or not.

Yeah the new versions are filled up with unneeded stuff.
Some of the programs do appear in the process list I think.. though closing them will only be temp solution at times.. but I'll leave the thinking part to the geek team errmmm.. fellow geek team

I don't have Kazaa cos I was warned that it's rife with virus's.
Most of the bugs I have been removing from my machine have been data-miners but - like I said before - as soon as I remove 'em they just keep coming back!
