All depends on the CPU, the case, the PSU, the fan, room temp....I guess you can safely get 400Mhz extra out of recent CPUs, after that it's rather dodgy. |

As long as the fan's running, there shouldn't be any problems with modern CPUs... if it's too much for it, it'll simply refuse to start up... or if it will it'll run for 15 minutes and then crash... and you can set a critical temp alarm in BIOS and it should automatically shut down after it crosses that mark. Besides: an average AMD CPU should run pretty normally on 80°C for short periods of time.. I have a 1466Mhz Thunderbird B clocked at 2000Mzh - it went up to 95° (boiled egg teritory!) when a fan malfunctioned quite some time ago... it ran like that for at least a few minutes before it reseted itself... and it still works fine today. No worries.

how do i play .avi files and .m2v files
 As you know just got a laptop and I only have windows media player on here and they wont play the files i want. What players do people recommend and how can i get media player to play my files. |

wmp10 has whole bunch of other, somewhat unnecessary, addons that could interfere with playing videos so some people rather use classic because is more "cleaner" than wmp10

windows media player classic includes codecs and works for pretty much everything, including mp3s. it's far better than winamp and windows media player.
