The Princess of Pop broke the news in an open letter to fans.
Britney is desperate to start a family with new hubby Kevin Federline and is rumoured to be pregnant.
The letter says: “I haven’t really thought a lot about work lately, what better time for a greatest hits album to come out? I can actually enjoy and reflect on my success at this point in my life.
“I may be disappointing some fans but I don’t think I’ll do another tour for a couple of years. My priorities in life have changed.”
But Britney vows she will return. “When I come back, things will be totally different,” she says.
A source close to the star said: “Britney is going to disappear from the spotlight for a few years and come back almost unrecognisable. Good luck to her.”
She may return as Britney Federline.


American Pie's actress Tara Reid popped out

Lindsay Lohan and Wilmer Valderrama Have Split Up

Lindsay Lohan and Wilmer Valderrama have ended their relationship, the That '70s Show star's rep confirmed to PEOPLE (magazine).

No details were available on when or why the two split, but "they're still friends," says Valderrama's rep, Heidi Slan.

Lohan's rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, says the Freaky Friday star is "totally fine."

"She is working on her film, shooting some magazine covers and preparing for her appearances on all major New York shows for her album," says Sloane Zelnick.

Lohan's debut album, Speak, is due out Dec. 7.

Lohan, 18, and Valderrama, 24, were first spotted together in May, but they didn't publicly acknowledge their relationship until her 18th birthday in July.

At the Teen Choice Awards over the summer, Valderrama told PEOPLE that he and Lohan had kept their romance a secret because that made it more special.

"We try to keep it more under wraps because it is a lot more meaningful that way," he said. "At this point we don't need all the free press."

Valderrama was by Lohan's side during her recent hospitalization for exhaustion and a high fever. The star of Mean Girls spent several days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before returning to work on her upcoming feature Herbie: Fully Loaded. She also appeared as a guest star on Valderrama's sitcom this week.

Lindsay Lohan blasts her dad over his comments

When Lindsay Lohan saw her dad, Michael, quoted in a magazine story about her recent hospital stay, saying, "I've heard the rumors, and I won't condone drinking and drugs," the teen queen reached her boiling point, PEOPLE reports.

"She's sick and tired of hearing her father 24-7 on Howard Stern and Celebrity Justice and Extra," says a family friend.

So Lohan unleashed a minimedia attack of her own on Nov. 8, telling Access Hollywood, "I have tried to keep quiet long enough. Unfortunately, my father has continued to move forward with his actions as a cry for attention. He has started false allegations regarding myself and the cause of my illness. I feel this is hurtful, and it angers me to see that my own father would stoop to such a level."

Lindsay, 18, has not seen her dad since August, when she was dining at the L.A. hot spot Koi with a friend. Michael showed up unexpectedly. The Mean Girls star politely said hello "but then asked him to leave," says the family insider, who adds that Michael later told gossip columnists that the chance meeting was a happy reunion. Last month Lindsay did not allow Michael to visit while she was hospitalized for fever and exhaustion.

Michael, a New York investment banker, maintains he was misquoted and attributes the rift to bad people surrounding his daughter. "Lindsay is a money machine," he adds. "They're all feeding off her." He says that Lindsay is treating her boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, as "a father figure": "How can she look to a 24-year-old guy with no life experience?"

Michael has had a rocky year, including a separation from Dina, 42, his wife of 19 years, and a guilty plea for attacking a sanitation worker (he has agreed to take an anger-management class). For now, Lindsay is keeping her distance. "It's hurting her," says a friend, "but she has her mom, her boyfriend and her close friends."

Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, was arrested Monday night on charges of criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection taken out against him by his wife, Long Island police say.

The elder Lohan, 44, never made it to jail, however: Following his court appearance for the bust, he complained of shortness of breath and chest pains and was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital for evaluation, the New York Post and Daily News report. There has been no statement from the hospital regarding his condition.

It was the second time in three months that Lohan showed signs of heart trouble while in custody. In August, he was rushed out of Nassau County Court, where he was the defendant in an assault case, and treated for high blood pressure at a nearby hospital.
According to the Daily News, Monday's arrest revolved around an incident two weeks ago in which he allegedly chased daughter Lindsay, 18, when she showed up at her younger brother Dakota's soccer game in Merrick, L.I. The sporting event was also attended by his wife (and the children's mother), Dina – who had secured an order of protection against Michael last month.

Dina's brother, Paul Sullivan, tells the Daily News that Michael has threatened to murder his entire family, which now has 24-hour security protection.

Last summer, Michael was arrested in the family home for allegedly beating another brother-in-law, Matthew Sullivan, with a shoe during a brawl at a Communion party.
