About Carola winning last years swedish selections I kind of felt the same, haven't we sent her to ESC enough times already? And the wind in the hair - yes, I had a laugh at that too. She did the wind in the hair thing when she won in 1991 (I think) with a song (Fångad av en stormvind, "captured by a stormwind") in similar style to last years, so yes, it was quite surprising to see she did it again. Or perhaps that was the point, scoring votes for nostalgic reasons.

When it somes to The Ark you will be horrified to know it was by far the best song in this years swedish final. It was bad this year.

Yeah... 91 is correct. And yeah, the same wind-thing. Hehe. She has done that wind-machine thingie a bunch of times in music vids and stuff too. Even when performing the song on norwegian television she was singing with no extras on stage ... except the wind machine. She was made fun of because of it. I mean... if you're copying your own success 15 years earlier, please at least try to come up with something new on stage... *sigh* "Invincible" aka "Fångad av en Stormvind"... I wonder if she used a wind machine when singing "Främling" in 83.

As far as I could see, nope. She didn't have that much hair that time to get blown. LOL.

I think we are going to have fun this year at Eurovision with so many bizarre entries and performances. Yeah!

But the wind in hair is classiic camp, no matter how many times you do it can't get enough of it
wind machine is like big hairdos, extravagantly tasteless clothes, dodgy machine drums, etc.
Carola really though she was gonna win with all that.
ok, maybe if I listen to the Ark about 50 times and forget everything I know I'll like it. won't be doing it though, there are better songs around.

Hey, dradeel you liked Norway's 2003 entry or was it too quiet for you?

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, you really don't know what to expect this year, unlike the previous two. I doubt we'll have a clear favourite beforehand and if there is one, it won't win. Will be unpredictable this year. We have such an insane mix of different songs and styles.
I'm sensing Turkey might be an early fav, the song is actually better than Sertab's when she won and it's got the same touch of cheese with a contemporary sound and Turkey always give attention to the performance, so it could go far...other than that, I don't know, I still like Cyprus and Bulgaria' songs very much but I doubt they'll be favs because they're "small" Eurovision countries. But so was Greece and Turkey a few years back and now they're massive. You always start from somewhere. There's gonna be stiff competition this year but I believe the title will rightly and hopefully stay in the East. the Eastern alliance is just too strong
And I've prepared myself of watching some untalented muppet who shakes it well on stage beating all competition...wouldn't be the first time and it won't be last.

I remember I was struggling to find 1 or 2 songs to like in the past but this year I like at least half a dozen. So that means it's getting better ( at least for me ).

Hmmm... "I'm nooot afraid to mooove on". Not the worst song, no. Actually, that year I think that was my fav from the Norwegian finals. I guess it was in 2004 that I was a little pissed (with reasons), but oh well... Hehe.
The bad thing about Jostein Hasselgård (or what his name was, I think I'm right tho. the dude in 2003 anyways) was the awful english accent. Hehehe. Other than that it was okay. A little too ballad-ish for my taste I guess, but not too bad at all.

....wtf...

My whole post here is pointless, I'm just repeating myself so off it goes
I haven't listened to Andorra's song yet and some others, I'll get to it.

So do we want a retro Eurovision or a Eurovision with contemporary music, or a Eurovision with kitsch songs? I think people need to decide but coolasfcuk doesn't seem to be happy no matter what happens, you're always complaining cool

the Balkan song is old
the ballad is dead
rock is so "monstrous"
those contemporary bands we don't need in Eurovision, they're changing the tradition.
the kitsch songs are just kitsch

Well decide what we want people! Maybe next trend will be arias and operettas.
And for those who say the Swedes will win , well if they do, I'll eat my ravoili.

hmm, Russia's song will be a wake-up call for Britain if it does well, other countries getting kudos with British style of contemporary pop now.
If that isn't a wake up call for them nothing will be.

ok, this year, I'll be voting for Bulgaria, Cyprus and Russia..songs rock, in fact they're actually better than anything in ESC 2006 or 2005. Everyone of them is a bold decision. I also like Turkey but I won't be voting for them. They're genna get the points anyway, it's not as bold a song, they're treading on explored and succesful territory already.
attitude has to be rewarded...

Peter got voted into the danish finale by a wildcard. Think it was about 60% that voted for him in the wildcard thing. Then in the finale the song was back to back with James Sampson most of the way.
In my opinion none of the other songs sounded any better than Drama Queen. A lot were worse though..

I agree!
Look, this is how much of a strong alliance we have in the east, Elitsa and Stoyan performed voda @ the greek national final: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Ed0...elated&search= ... they still need to work on that performance! There is so much energy in the song and the performance doesnt quite capture it ...

oh and by the way spy, i am always like that... i would disagree with people/things for no other reason than to be the oposite eurovision is fun to watch because it is a competition, not because it is full of good songs - thats why performance is important i think, and also it is always fun to see some contemproary stuff, ABBAism should DIEEEEEEE! LoL
i think the eastern euros are usually the ones that push the abbaism away, because it has never really been in our countries recently, it died with that 1989

I know that, I saw the Greek national final live, and posted above.
Elitsa said the next day when she appeared on a Greek morning show where they performed it again that everybody was telling them they're very impressed with their song and were wishing them luck and she also said she feels great to be in Greece ( she had a humble look in her face when she said that ).
They asked her do you know what your name mean in Greek? ( she knew, it means "little olive" )
So much about the Greeks hating the Bulgarians. We have more serious problems now ( i.e Turks )
Why do you get so confrontational lately, cool. you remind me of myself before in the forum
Anyway, it's not bad, this is a place to have different opinions and disagree on things when we disagree...nothing wrong with that.

Today I spoke to a gay guy in the Jobcentre and he was great ( oh he was also black, hehe ). I think I might have made a new friend.

I feel like they need 3 more ladies on stage with them to dance and if they pulled a performace like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvTZh...elated&search= they will go FAR - c'mon Serebro, we know you were made to be the Russian Pussycat Dolls so embrace it

Howtness <3. It's a recent interview of Serebro and they even sing a bit of their song live and even don't sound disasterous but who cares as long as Temnikova is this hot *rolls eyes*

And coolies, that 'live' performance wasn't live at all. It was filmed for the show by the guy who never shot a decent video in his life (at least not for this show). Rumors say they plan much more than that for Helsinki.
