What was up with Spain, France, UK and Germany finishing last? People tired of them being in the finals either way?
Congrats to Spy for Greece winning. I was still hoping for Schwizerland and Latvia though. My new entry in top 3 was *stops to think* Israel. |

A good step would be if they brought the orchestras and the live music back like it used to be a few years ago, so that a song on the night can be judged by more than the circus element in it. I know cool wouldn't agree with me because then the ethnic songs would be in jeopardy.
Also to bring the native languages back. Listening to awful English lyrics don't make the songs any better. Kudos to the countries who keep their native language intact for the competition - though they're never gonna win - and shame to Greece cause we have one of the richest languages. Now that we won the Greek language should be back in Eurovision. Latvia passed through their anti-Iraq war message and nobody protested about it...cool |

But if they don't take it seriously then they should withdraw all together, cos I'm sure other countries would like to be secured a spot in the final. |

Here are all the songs from this year ripped from the CD:
Eurovision 2005.rar Songs aren't in CD order, their in the order of performance for the final, so... you can reorder them anyway you like. Enjoy |

well sheesh i wasn't here last night!
anyways... i got to see the votes and greece song... i can't say i don't like the song but imo it's a ripoff... i was listening to it and i thought it's leann rhymes singing there sounds pretty much like one of her songs... (the coyote bar one...can't remember the name...) and all of a sudden some dance on the scene and "HO!" just like ruslana did last year... and since i like that leann's song and ruslana's, greece one is also good but a ripoff |

My mother surprised me when she knew about Eurovision, she lived in Sweden the year ABBA won, so she witnessed one of the quintessential shows... but very few people seem to share my enthusiam or interest in the contest here. |

Here my friends told me that I'm a freak!! just because
I like to see the Eurovision and because I have music from other countries to me they're such an ignorants because they like the non-sense and stupid popular latin songs (I'm not saying that all the latin music is bad). Sometimes I do feel sad because, but well I'm diffrent and I like it |

thanks,, thegurgi Who would've thought that Id be the owner of Eurovision CD p.s. I am liking the Cyprus song more and MORE ... especially because now it made me realize where the Bulgarians got one of their words for 'come' - ELA - those damn Greeks I am NOT surprised at all that Bulgaria gave 10 points to Cyprus, soon it might become 'my #1' |

thegurgi, Thanks a bunch! I'll give the CD a ride in the stereo and then tell what songs I skip when listening.

Greg, big thanks =)
interesting results indeed... host country, technically organizing country (Sweden) and all big 4 in last 6 spots.. at least this ESC was somewhat original in this. |

sunny poison, there are some reasons for it:
1. Big 4 doesn't care as they are automatically qualified no matter what. 2. Sweden got a pretty big head, having one of the best ESC statistics when it comes to the results. It never has been relegated or needed to qualify. 3. Another victory for Ukraine would be a disaster. This year's Eurovision cost the country a lot. |

coolasfcuk, See! I'd definitely skip all balkan rythms but will leave most of the power ballads and pop-thingies. It shows very much how we differ in taste based on our enthnic roots and the music we were brought up with. I'm more into pop and rock of a clear European type as I've been brough up with all that disco bands. So when people complain that the voting is so political, I'd remind to think about the cultural differences too.
P.S. I think I'll give your choice as an example on the Russian forum. I hope you won't be against it. |

coolasfcuk, Let's see how Bulgaria voted:
12 pts - Greece 10 pts - Cyprus 8 pts - Romania 7 pts - Macedonia 6 pts - Moldova 5 pts - Hungary 4 pts - Serbia and Montenegro 3 pts - Turkey 2 pts - Croatia 1 pt - Norway I highly doubt that a Swede, for instance, will have Turkey or Croatia in their player. As an ABBA and pop-rock country, they'll go for Bosnia and Swisstonia. |

I am not disagreeing, honestly, this would be my top 10, maybe in a bit different order, but pretty close (excluding Moldova, as I really dont like the song, unless i am watching the performance - and then its only because of the grandma! LoL). I aknowledge that there are no ballads in the Bulgarian vote and that's very understandable to me - those are in my list as I am giving them a chance LoL I would say Bulgaria's voting is mainly Cultural and probably just a tiny bit political, but definitely more cultural. But, thats kind of a given, no? I mean, thats why for example Germany always gives Turkey high rankings - because of all the Turks in Germany I presume, which make it cultural decision, not political really oh and forre, dont make me think too hard to make up sentences in Russian - tell DinoBora, that YES, there is definitely Balkan cultural connections, but there are also Slavic ones and Norway got in the list because, like I said, I like Glam Rock and the song is refreshing - and there are plenty of people in BG who like Glam Rock as well p.s. the people on the Balkans have had 'intertwined' lives for centuries, and borders have been drastically changing in the last 100 years - so there are lots of 'mixings' of different people occuring around the border areas. For example my grandparents were born in Greek territory and grew up until 10 in what is Greece and now live 6 km from the Turkish border. Not to mention that my country was under Turkish rule for almost 500 years of course that would have an impact ... |
