I hope Federer wins and starts crying like a girl at the presentation.

Edit - Looks like Henin is winning pretty easily against what's her name. I wonder how Henin generates so much power with her small frame.

Eeeeasy for Henin, 6-1, 6-2

So we had the following in the last 4 days:

Novak - Andreev 3-0
Nadal - Moya 3-0
Ivanovic - Sharapova 2-0
Henin - Jankovic 2-0
Federer - Davydenko 3-0
Nadal - Novak 3-0
Henin - Ivanovic 2-0

winners 18 sets to challengers 0
Disappointing matches all the way.

Bookies think the 3-0 trend will continue with Nadal beating Federer 3-0
But I don't understand the so low odds. Hope Federer give us a match tomorrow at last

Because Feds showed some weak points during the tournament while Nadal was smashing his opponents. That's the explanation. I personally think we'll be having a great match. I think 5 sets looks more real.
As for today's final. Ivanovic is technically very strong but mentally is absolutely weak. If she was strong enough, she could win against Justine. Yeah for Justine's victory!

Federer always shows us weak points early in the tournaments, even in Wimbledon he's a slow starter. Nadal is always playing the same. I think Federer is a lot stronger mentally and able to drive the match where he wants it but a big questionmark is whether his game will be good enough to beat Nadal. He has a tendency to drift away with unforced errors and generally seem uninterested but hopefully he will be up for the challenge.
The Roland Garros is even more difficult for players who want to challenge Nadal on clay - unlike other clay surfaces the ball travels with tremendous spin when Nadal hits, making it extremely tough to dictate any kind of game.

It will be a real disappointment once again for the tournament if we have yet another one-sided match.

spyretto, Got to agree with you. I think Feds is more motivated as well. Technically, he is more stable.

They were giving to all of us who came for the ladies final at RG, a pair of very nice ladies sunglasses. It even has a tiny inscription inside "Ladies final. Roland Garros 2007". The question is, anyone wants to have them? (I do lots of photography and don't use sunglasses a lot + I already have a couple of them). That's for the girls only because of the design.

I didn't like Rafa much before but he's gone up in my estimation today. He played some inspiring tennis. It wasn't pure power, he managed to match Federer in quality of points as well....and of course take his chances when it mattered while Federer missed an unbelievable amount of break points.

Nadal played well but I can't say the same about Roger. Something happened there. The guy missed a lot of first servers and a lot of volleys. I don't get it. Maybe it was too hot for him. I mean the weather. It was a burning sun for the most at the court. Nadal deserves it after all. Congrats to Rafa and sorry for Feds.

Tennis must be over for all of you after Roland Garros but the green season is much better imo. I have to say Gicquel v Nalbandian today was better than any match I saw in RG and I've seen quite a few...proper thriller.. Tim's match was also very good and he lost yet another 1st round match but this time on grass and on home soil ( Queens ). Sad to see that the guy has finished.

Wimbledon starts in a couple of weeks, so we'll catch up with the grass season soon.

Some great matches at Queens today. LLeyton Hewitt lost to the French "Muhammed Ali lookalike" Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. If you think Monfils is good wait till you see this guy. He had injuries in the last couple of years but he's come back winning Surbiton last week ( he beat service machine giant Ivo Karlovic ) and now beating Lleyton on grass.
The guy is spectacular!
Nadal beat Del Potro again in a similar way he did in RG earlier, despite the fact that DP kept it close again - for a while at least.

Then to top all that the match between Grosjean and Marat stopped today at 1-1 sets and 4 all 40 all
Rain had to spoil the day towards the end, but it has been some fantastic tennis at Queens.

Not so great matches in Halle today except maybe for Youzhny's match...they have a grass court with a roof, it makes for interesting scenery.

spyretto, Thanks for the report. Greatly appreciated! I'm surprised that Hewitt lost.

Anyone for tennis?
The US Open started today - well not on TV yet, as soon as those girls who pretend to play finish.

Has this thread died then?

I went to 3 sessions of the current ATP tour finals, 1 as a competition winner and 2 that I booked on my own. Have to say it was very impressive, excellent venue, almost sold out and some great tennis played.

Overall I'm very happy I had this great opportunity to attend such a big event.

^ My brother saw four matches there on Wednesday. He reckons he stayed awake through all of them. I don’t believe him.

Congrats to Rafa for getting the career slam by winning the U.S. Open grand slam title, it was a long way coming but he did it yesterday! The match against Djokovic was very intense as expected but he played his best ever game on hard courts, never seen him play so well on his least favourite surface, it goes to show how much he wanted this title.

Comparisons with Roger Federer are gonna be prominent but it's way too early to say. He now belongs in the elite of the best players who played this sport.

I gotta admit it was difficult for me, especially duing the doubles and that awfully long match between Verdasco and Del Potro...but I'll probably be going again this year, tickets are really cheap
