Actually 'Fight Club' is more about rejecting our shallow society and the notion it projects onto us that the only thing that matters in life is how much cash you have in your wallet, how big your TV is or how fashionable your shoes are. 'Fight Club' is about people who have become so numb with their monotonous, empty, 9 to 5 existance that the only way they can feel anything is to beat each other to a bloody pulp every weekend.
'Fight Club' is about a generation of people who are bored and unhappy and feel cheated by the very lifestyle that they had been told their whole lives they had to work hard to achieve.

"Goddamn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
