I thought Russia sent the first satellite AND the first man into space. Just not the first man on the moon. How exactly is that losing the Space Race?

Anyway, I'm staying out of this discussion. Just don't all get too carried away. Or I will put on my mod hat and edit at my leisure. Express yourselves, but be considerate as well.
