How many of you can read Cyrillic?

Just browsing on the forum and had a thought, how many of you guys can read the Cyrillic alphabet? I started studying it in the 6th grade after being infatuated with t.A.T.u. for a number of years already. So, I've known the alphabet for about 5 years now. I'd say I'm PRETTY efficient with it. At a glance, I can read text very efficiently almost as well as Latin script. - sometimes I'm not sure what it says in Russian but I know how it sounds or would sound if read aloud. How about you guys?

I bought their CDs on June 2003 (200km/h), and starting to learn Russian alphabet from the booklet (translating one by one from the YSSU and NND lyrics) :coctail:

it's ok for me when reading Veselye Ulybki lyrics in Cyrillic :coctail::coctail:

I'm okay at it... I learned it from... umm somewhere, I never actually studied it, I think reading the lyrics in Cyrillic knowing how they sound made me used to the alphabet.

Sahar 17-11-2008 13:39

I can read kinda good, but won't understand a things LOL

I just know the letters.

Actually I've just known cyrillic and start learning Russian language in the beginning of this year, though I like t.A.T.u since 5/6 years ago. My friend Ruivelle was so kind for teaching me,,so yeah I'm okay with that. And I'm still learning ;)

mishu86 17-11-2008 15:05

I know the letters two or three words but that's all :D.

I'd say i'm completely fluent in Russian Cyrillic... i use the alphabet on a daily basis and use it extensively in my artwork. One of my favorite things to do is to convert a Roman alphabet font into a Cyrillic font. I've done this about 4 or 5 times and there are mixed results... but in order to create a font it requires extensive knowledge of an alphabet's ligatures, descenders, ascendants, a-centers and x-heights. Which is why i chose "i can read it like a pro." When it comes to pronunciation and reading comprehension, I'd say I'm intermediate ... cause there's just no way i'd be foolish to say i'm fluent at reading or pronunciation ... but i'm pretty damn good. (it has been nearly 10 years of studying after all)

about a year or two ago i went online and learned the Cyrillic alphabet. I can read it and write it super easily now and I know a bunch of words. Next year when I take Russian i should be even better!! (and yes it's all due to t.A.T.u.) =)

Станко394 18-11-2008 15:07

i'm a native "cyrillicitian" so, yeah, pro

Same here! Some things I understand, but not everything.
I've had only one course of Russian.

manatsu103 18-11-2008 16:59

I'm okay at reading it, but I cant read things very fast.

Tourniquet 19-11-2008 13:59

I'm okay at reading it LoL. Viewing so many t.A.T.u. articles and lyrics...

nath 19-11-2008 14:04

I'm okay at reading it but I can pronounce it very, very slowly and I just understand 3 or 4 words sometimes.
But when I read the titles of Russian Forum, I can usually understand what they are speaking about.

Ruivelle 07-12-2008 10:23

Well, i can read it like a pro! Ha! :gigi:

fanoff 07-12-2008 11:25

I learned by myself and I'm now reading like a pro.

Blakeich 07-12-2008 12:05

i can read it like a pro also,

dradeel 07-12-2008 14:16

Am I the only one who can't understand shit when it comes to cyrillic? :D Have never had any time, discipline nor will to sit down and learn it, allthough I think russian is a hot language. I had german in school, and that destroyed all my will to learn any language at all :p

Argos 07-12-2008 15:02

I'm not so great with the italic version of the cyrillic alphabet, but when it comes to handwriting I behave like in first class of primary school.

Jennie 07-12-2008 15:38

was some time since I learned it... and since I used it..
but I think I'm kinda good :) remember most of it..
but lol, dont understand what it means.. but that doesn't matter right? :p
know the letters and thats enough for me

Offtop:
awh I miss all my russian thoughts in my head :( my love to Dima :( it's all gone, just like that..
