should we allow expression of extremism on this forumboard

im starting this thread to find out what the majority of our members and visitors think of expression of extremism and al that comes with it , like symbols and promoting of such organisations after all, all i expect to find here are people with respect for each other no matter who you are or where you come from and who love music like tatu's

What do you mean? I guess that's ok....

mir 19-01-2003 02:04

i want to find out how to deal with people who for example would like to use the swastika as an avatar for ive encountered some one here who want one,
when he was told that it was not realy appropriate for this forum and also why it was not he declared that it was his way of living, so in a way promoting it.

goku 19-01-2003 02:21

Ok.... So the swastika thing... I don't support it... There are plenty of other avatars and we don't need to start a controversy over some stupid thing....

thegurgi 19-01-2003 04:44

well, what way was the swastika facing? i know that the reversed of the "Nazi" swastika is the Hindi symbol for hope and there is nothing wrong that...

rosh 19-01-2003 04:57

things which are known to be offensive [racism, homophobia etc] and things which are said and meant to be offensive [personal verbal attacks, snide comments etc] - i believe these should be curtailed. after all we are here to talk about all things tatu and to engage in friendly conversation. if people on the forum disagree with each other, theres still no reason to be rude or disrespectful. after all, there is always a civil way of stating your disagreement with someones opinion without resorting to rudeness.

if you dont have something good to say, then its better not to say anything.

goku 19-01-2003 06:02

Hmmm...... OK.. for some things .... but someone is going to say something offensive to someone else, and we can't ignore it...

rosh 19-01-2003 06:04

unfortunately not. all we can do is ask people to respect each other, or at the very least, not to get rude or personal. after that its up to the moderators to either bar them from the forum or something like that

goku 19-01-2003 06:12

Yes... I agree with you there!

goku 19-01-2003 06:14

Lol! rosh, look at our avatars... They are similar and look like they are staring at each other..
I just noticed it... its not that funny but i'm kinda tired lol...

rosh 19-01-2003 07:33

haha :) i am overtired too, its amazing the things i find funny when i am overtired. my friends tell me i am more entertaining than the jerry springer show in this state :P

heres staring at you, kid ;)

goku 19-01-2003 21:49

hehe.... you are entertaining... lol... hey the footbal games on... go Bucs!!!

Eminem 20-01-2003 02:26

Yo, I think you can write whatever ya want, but you can't say dat...here was written an example.

Jan : OK, that is exactly WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T SAY. Let's try not to be offensive and respect other people.

Well somebody had to give an example, but fine, lets try not to respect other people

Jan 20-01-2003 02:44

By the way- I personaly am very open minded person and respect every opinion as long as it doesn't hurt other people.

If someone wants to defend nazism or whatever I can discuss it with you, but if all they are trying to do is to promote hatred and attack innocent people- then we have nothing to talk about.

Problem is not with swastika- problem is with what it represents.

goku 20-01-2003 03:22

That's not even the problem... it's not what it represents, it's what it's reputation behind it is...

But I agree with you in the fact that we can discuss things with open-minds, if they are appropriate...

Silenced Sonix 20-01-2003 07:58

OK, mir, now why did you have to start this thread? What is your problem, why do you constantly badger me about the fact that I'm into Nazism? Get with it, or get lost.

PS: next time you want to get pissy behind my back, try to be a little more subtle...?

to make you feel like what other people feel when youre rude or disrespectfull.

btw i think youre more lost than i am
anyway if youre realy into nazism then im afraid that your perspective of the world is a bit tangled up but dont be affraid when there would be people here supporting other such organisations i would have posted the same thread, after all, all i ask the people, is to think about it and keep im mind to what such things might lead, for i know.........

tmp 20-01-2003 18:26

mir, I understand your purpose of asking, but thinking that "we" should allow or disallow something... Is it some sort of a virtual democracy? The admin and mods are the ones to allow or not. And I know they don't allow mentioning some (in my opinion) harmless things, which does not go along with my view of free information exchange on a forum. So sorry, you can vote, and they might listen to you, but it will be ultimately they not you who decides :)

Silenced Sonix 20-01-2003 18:48

Listen, I don't care what you have against Nazism, OK? Wahtever your experience with Nazism or other extremist like that, we really don't care. Take your issues somewhere else, or end up at the coroner with a bullet in your eye. You have been warned...

forre: Oh-ho-ho .. aren't we a little offensive here?
