The theme of this years Eurovision has been revealed!True Fantasy in Finland. The first theme was used in 2002,and has been used since then. Here is a quick remind of those.

Tallinn 2002 - Modern Fairytale

Riga 2003 - Magical Rendez-Vous

Istanbul 2004 - Under The Same Sky

Kyiv 2005 - Awakening

Athens 2006 - Feel The Rhythm

Helsinki 2007 - True Fantasy

Quote:

True fantasy

The theme is out!

YLE, the Eurovision 2007 Eurovision Song Contest broadcaster, the European broadcasting union EBU and T.E.A.M., who hold the commercial right of the contest, announced today during a press conference that the official theme for the 2007 event will be True fantasy. After Greece invited us to Feel the rhythm in 2006 it's another motto that leaves a big margin for your imagination...
It is confirmed that both EBU and YLE will be raising the stakes. The plan is to offer the global audience (as the Eurovision Song Contest is not viewed in Europe only anymore) an unprecedent experience. A real dream come true. This will be accomplished by amazing stage and TV events that will portray Finland's powerful diversity and intriguing contrasts.

We also want the Finnish theme to embrace Finland and Finnishness in terms of the polarities associated with our country: light vs. darkness, northern fells vs. islands in the south, our strong bond to nature vs. fast technological development, taciturnity against inner strength and creative madness, as showcased by Lordi in an original way, defines YLE's executive producer Heikki Seppälä.

Design agency Dog Design will be responsible for the theme design of the 2007 contest with Ilona Ilottu, Petri Salmela and Eeva Sivula as members. The set will be designed by a group of students from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki: Kristian Schmidt, Jenni Viitanen, Samuli Laine and Kalle Ahonen.

Greece has decided to send Tamta to Eurovision, - who so far has only had two hits in Greece, and one is Tornero, last year's Romanian entry as a duet with Mihai Trăistariu. She's not Greek herself and some people find her not a good choice for that reason.

Here's an article about the nomination and all:

Thr Turkish broadcaster TRT has decided who will represent Turkey in Helsinki, its Kenan Doğulu ,who had the biggest hit in 2006 in here with his dance song Çakkıdı,here is the video for it.

Çakkıdı

spyretto 19-12-2006 21:16

He's gonna be singing hip hop?
Or is it gonna be a different style of song? Hip hop hasn't worked so far in Eurovision.
Anyway, much better than the skinny talentless Tamta, that's for sure ;)

fanoff 20-12-2006 13:01

Didnt see the video for his song,Çakkıdı?Here it is.He is a talented pop singer, who has a respectable 10 year career in Turkish pop scene. You can find more info about him in here

Morissey to Eurovision!!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/200...morissey.shtml
Morrissey for Eurovision?

Star may pen and perform our track

09 Jan 07 - It does seem like an unlikely combination, but the BBC have confirmed Morissey is in talks over this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

They say he’s thinking of penning the track for our entry, but rumours are rife he may even step into the shoes of the likes of ABBA and perform it as well.

Last year Daz Sampson failed miserably and Moz piped up to let people know of his disappointment:
“I was horrified but not surprised to see the UK fail."
Morrissey
“I was horrified but not surprised to see the UK fail. Why didn’t they ask me?”

Now it appears they have. His record label say he received a letter asking him to get involved and we’re told he is a huge fan of the show.

There is no word yet from the man himself.

So what do you guys think about that?

The song is not officially selected yet. It's among the other 10 songs competing for the honour to represent Estonia in Eurovision 2007. The winner is selected on the 3rd of February.

Here in Austria it's top secret! An expert group will choose our entry somewhere in January. The organizers have come to the conclusion that the Austrian people is way too stupid to vote for a suitable candidate, AND THEY ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT. In our 'Starmania contest' the most talented performers are consequently voted out of the show. Is it only Austria or are other countries the same, that frustrated females choose their dreamboys in such votes and the really promising performers are dropped early in the contest?

Linda16 04-02-2007 01:05

Estonian representative

Tonight the Estonian representative in Eurovision 2007 was selected by public voting.

So, Estonia will be represented by Gerli Padar and her song is "Partners in Crime"

You can see the video here: and hear the song here

dradeel 04-02-2007 01:27

The Norwegian candidate will be elected next saturday. Today we finished all the semi-finals, and next friday there will be a "last chance competition" for those who came third and fourth in the semi-finals ... and on saturday there will be 8 artists left to be elected.

Among the favorites is a dance-techno band called Infinity doing comeback. They were huge in the middle of the 90s here in Scandinavia. And then there's a shitty punkpop-band who won tonight. So yeah, it will be another say year for eurovision song contest on norway's behalf. But I'm hoping Infinity will pull it through tho. We'll know in a week :)
