You should have a menu 'Analyse'.
'Partition checks' should give you the contents of your partition. If it detects errors it should do a partition recovery.
Be sure that you made a backup of your data before using this software.

Lauiii 31-07-2006 18:03

I try that analyse. It didnt found any errors if i understand that program right.

It should read correctly something like:

2 P hpfs-ntfs 2550/0/1 - 4864/239/63 (or evev 4864/254/63)

I would recommend that you delete the second partition (if there are no data stored), then recreate it with Partition Magic or Windows own tools, then format the second partition with the same filesystem as the first, and finally merge the two partitions in Partition Magic. (I don't know how good PM is at this, as I do partitioning only with 'linux', don't trust windows tools.)

Edit: Ooops, I see, obviously 'testdisk' may have already deleted the second partition, but check it with 'Search!'. This will show the 2nd part, if it isn't deleted. If it's gone you can continue with creating the 2nd partition.

Lauiii 31-07-2006 19:36

Ok. So I delette that "2 P hpfs-ntfs 2549 165 1 - 4864 239 63 - 37195200" using testdisc?

If you don't have data on it, yes. You have to, else no program can merge the two partitions into one big.

Lauiii 31-07-2006 19:47

Partitioning does not change the data area of a harddisk. It changes only entries in the partition table in the first sector of the drive, so if something goes wrong, there is always the possibility to fix the problem.

I suspect that the partition was already deleted by 'testdisk' automatically, so you deleted the first one. Try 'Search!', and look if you can find it , then make a recovery.

Argos, I messed around with the cables and set the harddrives to Master and Slave. I then had some troubles (loooong story), re-installed Windows completely, couldn't see the harddrive... check into Administrative tools and Computer manager (or something.. using Swedish version here) and now... it works. I can't believe it. I am eternally grateful to you, I can't even describe how you saved me :p I now have 19 gigs of extra space and it's all thanks to you. *kisses your feet* Thank you soooo much for the help.

Has anyone ever come across this error before:

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
After that happens I am still connected to the net yet nothing will load so of course I have to reboot my comp. It has happened 3 times tonight :none: Never seen it happen before.

Run your anti-virus program, just in case.

Rachel 13-08-2006 00:05

Just two java applets I've cleared.

It's to do with DNS...I've tried restarting the DNS services, that does nothing :(

I just restored my comp back to yesterdays checkpoint of 9.05pm...I'm hoping that may solve it...or I will cry

Zero682 13-08-2006 00:11

Good luck with that. Usually when my router won't connect to the server, i turn it off and make it sit in the corner for an hour, after that it works.

QueenBee 13-08-2006 00:12

Rachel, could it be this, maybe?

Microsoft said this but they usually suck balls when it comes to helping.

Here's a topic about it on some forum. It's in Swedish though. :p The user has tried anti-virus programs etc. but nothing helps. Here's what they're telling you to do:

First the user gave some Google search results: http://tinyurl.com/h9egl
Then, to download some patch ("Buffer Overrun In RPC Interface Could Allow Code Execution (823980)")

The second user says you should scan your computer with HijackThis and select these lines:
O16 - DPF: {97B79133-88F0-45F0-8D57-0F2EF27D9C66} - http://85.255.114.166/1/rdgSE2405.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhdn32 - winhdn32.dll (file missing)

then end all other programs and press "Fix selected" and restart.
(It looks weird to me but I just copied + pasted...)

I donno if that helps anything though. Good luck!

Rachel 13-08-2006 00:38

I'm gonna try a few things tomorrow as right now I'm on my dad's laptop as my comp died again and I've just found a load of porn on here so I'm rather traumatised at the vision of my dad watching "House Wife Cheaters" :ill: :ill: :ill:

Btw, this is the details I get about my error.

rosh 13-08-2006 12:42

rachel, if you run a firewall, tell it it to block generic hosts from doing anything. i used to get that issue and i just block generic hosts from trying to access anything on the internet.

on the off chance you are infected with a trojan of some sort, ive found regrun is an amazing program to run checks with and clear weird things from your pc with. its got a 30 day free evaulation period during which time its completely functional. i was so impressed with it i ended up buying a licence

download link -- http://www.greatis.com/security/download.htm

Rachel 13-08-2006 13:24

Thanks rosh, I'll check that out. :rose: And nope, I don't run a firewall.

EDIT: "You are clean." :(
