for tomorrow i hope gaudio wins, coria i just dont like.
The question being, is Gaudio capable of upsetting or will he be as competitive as Dementieva? Coz the odds are fantastic for Gaudio's win, I found as high as 3.35, (10/3) with Coria's odds being as low as 1.28 (2/7), - a rediculous price for a finalist.
There can't be so much difference between the players, both are Argentinian, both specialist on clay, similar physique etc...or can it? According to the bookies there's no chance Gaudio can win.

Any thoughts?

I could be backing Gaudio on the handicap though ( jee, that sounds like a betting post )

hmmm its a tricky one...have you looked at their head-to-head record? I think Gaudio has a chance, coz Hewitt and Nalbandian sorta play like Coria...so who knows? But obviously Coria is a crazy little player...

thanks,taty994945
Quite interesting statistics there. For everytime Coria won it was on the deciding set, which means that Gaudio can put on a fight everytime he plays him. I think the bookies are right about Coria's win but not without a fight for sure.
Current handicap I found is +1.5 sets for Gaudio -at 2.48 - if I could get +2 sets that would be fantastic as a 3-1 Gaudio's defeat would guarantee my money back.
But hey, 2.48 is still worth a small backing, in case we have a thriller tomorrow

Just to make the viewing of the match a bit more spicy

Yep, that's a pretty 'educated' bet.

Interesting fact I read at the offical site:

Quote:
These two are not great friends: in 2003, they got into an altercation in a Hamburg locker room over whether Coria was feigning an injury during a three-set victory over Gaudio.
Let's hope for some fireworks in the ceremony!

yeah and a better final, coz the womens one was so frustrating.

Backing this one:

Gaston Gaudio +6 games at 2.10

That's even better. Say Coria wins 3-1 with 6-4, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 calculating all the games equals -5 for Coria, Gaudio still a winner at +6

Banker bet:
over 3.5 sets at 1.61

This one HAS to be a winner

Okay, spyretto, I can see you're a gambling man so here's my advice - bet on Gaudio to win 3-0. Yes, it sounds crazy but here's my thinking. For Gaudio to beat Coria I think he's going to have to catch him cold and win quickly, not letting him get into the match at all. If, for example, Gaudio wins the first set and then Coria levels, I think Coria will win the match and likewise even if Gaudio wins the first 2 sets. The odds on a 3-0 Gaudio win must be terriffic: therefore it must be worth a bet. Also, if you want more smart bets (or are they?!) bet on Mauresmo for Wimbledon (yes, okay, this one's a very dangerous bet!) because her odds will be more generous after her disappointing Roland Garros exit, and she's got just the game to win Wimbledon if the Williams sisters are still struggling, Clijsters is still injured and Henin's still not match-fit. Plus, she shouldn't be so nervous because the expectations for her at Wimbledon are nowhere near as great. And another smart but risky bet for Wimbledon - Agassi (yes, I know I'm insane). Again, he was shit at Roland Garros so he's probably going to be a good price and apart from the God-like Federer (who'll be some ridiculously stingy price) who else really plays that well at Wimbledon. Andre knows this could be his last chance at Wimbledon, and I think he'll play accordingly. I reckon you'll get at least 50 -1 for a Mauresmo/ Agassi Wimbledon double. In fact, I think I might have a little wager myself . (Edit: 50-1 What the fcuk am I talking about! I'm estimating 128-1 minimum, so my tenner's going on now!)

P.S. I still don't understand spread betting though. It's too new-fangled for me. .

P.P.S. For those who were wondering, when Elena Dementieva made that sudden extravagant Russian outburst in the second set of the final, I read the post-final press-conference transcripts and apparently what she said was "I hate my service." I bet those weren't her exact words though . Again, for this she goes up in my estimation .

I thought you would be right transcend but then again

Gaudio pulled one back!! What a surprise...I'm already a winner, coz I made the sets bet my main bet ( as I should have )

Bettings aside, Coria is like a human tennis machine. One to the left , one to the right, then centre, one left one right...Never makes an error but machines can break down, you know

I doubt it'll happen today

So do I. Take note of the Wimbledon bet though, spyretto - I've already got pound signs in my eyes.

That's it, Coria's out of it. He's just staying on for the crowd.

Yeah, are you not watching? 5th set should be finished in a flash. 4th just finished.

I think I've got some evil powers which I can't control, hehehe

That's so unfortunate, perhaps if Coria knew it he would have finished Gaudio in 3 sets. I'm sorry for him, so close yet so far
His hamstring is gone, he can barely move his left foot.

It was just an "educated" guess, he was playing like a machine, machines can break down. Now he's start moving a little bit better though.

He needs some more oiling now...

No more oiling, he-he. Only one treatment for one injury. He's got some colohydrates, that should help. The match is interesting anyway. We need Coria to win to become a hero!

Toying with me or helping me to win both bets?

It's not over by any means though. Gaudio knows his opponent is not 100%
