1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 14 for all. A person who has sexual intercourse or commits another sexual act with a person of different or same sex who is younger than 14 years shall be punished by imprisonment from six months to five years.

2. Has a national gay rights law that bans some anti-gay discrimination, including employment.

3. Allows homosexuals in its military.

NOTE:

1. This region is the most homosexual tolerant of the former Yugoslavia.
Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Though I have to disagree on the age of consent part, which is actualy 15.

*Raises Hand* No pictures! :P

Sweden:

1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 15 for all.

2. Allows foreign partners of its homosexual citizenry to receive residency permits.

3. Bans discrimination based on sexual orientation in the job market, the law applies to all sections of the labor market as well as all categories of employees including applicants for a job.

4. Allows homosexuals to register partnership with all the legal rights and obligations of marriage with the exception of adopting children and having a church ceremony, or having children through alternative insemination.

5. Allows homosexuals in its military.

---

The thing is, anyone can do pretty much anything here in Sweden. You can have sex whenever you want, but someone over 15 cannot have sex with someone under 15 (unless its just a small difference like 14-16).

---

And here is my home country

Poland:

1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 15 for all, but it is a general offence to induce another person to sexual acts by abusing a dependency or a situation of distress, punishable with up to five years imprisonment. Homosexual prostitution is legal.

2. The constitution restricts marriage to heterosexual couples only.

3. Donor insemination is available only to married couples.

---

That's not SO bad. I guess my two countries are pretty much OK when it comes to homosexual rights.

---

I kinda feel sorry for the people in Iran though:

1. Homosexuality is illegal, those charged with love-making are given a choice of four deathstyles: being hanged, stoned, halved by a sword, or dropped from the highest perch. According to Article 152, if two men not related by blood are discovered naked under one cover without good reason, both will be punished at a judge's discretion. Gay teens (Article 144) are also punished at a judge's discretion. Rubbing one's penis between the thighs without penetration (tafheed) shall be punished by 100 lashes for each offender. This act, known to the English-speaking world as "frottage" is punishable by death if the "offender" is a non-Moslem. If frottage is thrice repeated and penalty-lashes have failed to stop such repetitions, upon the fourth "offense" both men will be put to death. According to Article 156, a person who repents and confesses his gay behavior prior to his identification by four witnesses, may be pardoned. Even kissing "with lust" (Article 155) is forbidden. This bizarre law works to eliminate old Persian male-bonding customs, including common kissing and holding hands in public.

"Hmm.. Well.. I think I wanna be stoned.. Oh wait, Nah, I think I choose hanging instead..."

No offence.

hey they don't have the United States. I guess because all the laws very between states. The only federal law that I'm aware of is the new Sodomy law passed by the supreme court in June making sodomy legal in all states.

Khartoun2004, yeah I looked for the United States too and couldn't find it. I'm pretty sure it's because of what you said (that the laws are different between states).

I find it interesting that the age of consent is different for gay men than for lesbians and Heterosexuals. I'm curious as to what the logic behind the law is? Wouldn't it make more sense that the leagl age of consent for all homosexual acts be the same and there to be a difference for heterosexual acts? or why not just make the law the same for everyone?

Khartoun2004, I agree 100%. It must be because in many nations men are the "stronger" gender.. But then it would have been turned around and men could have had sex with the same sex and have 8 wives... It just doesn't make sense either way...

One reason why the law is different for gay men and gay women is that lesbian intercourse isn't recognised as 'sex' in the eyes of many legal systems. This is certainly the case in Great Britain.

Nonetheless, a woman must be sixteen before she can consent to any sexual practice, so this is taken to be the age of consent for gay women.

Up until recently gay men had to wait until eighteen to legally have sex in Britain, this was changed to sixteen three years ago, after the intervention of the European Court of Human Rights.

At least in Europe the age of consent for a country applies to the whole country. Consent laws can be very confusing in the US because like I said before it varies from state to state.

I now in NY the age of consent is 16 as long as it's with another consenting person under the age of 18. However cross into Massachusetts and it's a whole different ball game. The age of consent is also 16, but a 16 year old can have sex with an "Adult" under the age of 21. If they're over 21 it's called rape. And of course those are only 2 out of 50, not including territories like Guam and Puerto Rico.

I'm sure the laws will again change in the next couple of years in all states since Sodomy is now legal everywhere. Homosexuals in most states were never concidered. This country's policies become more interesting by the minute.

Yup I agree with this. This is probably one of the reasons society shows better tolerance to lesbains then to gay men (the other reasons being that they are aesteticaly much more pleasing, and that a typical ignorant guys attitude is that two girls are together just because they haven't found the right guy yet. )

Hm, reading the laws of some countries makes me realize how far away we still are from a tolerant society on this planet.
If I was an alien I'd put on the warp anyway and get my ass away from this place.

By the way: Rudolf Scharping isn't defense-minister anymore (surely no loss for this country).

Edit:

They don't have Australia, Canada, or the US, but they have New Zealand. That doesn't seem to make much sense.

Mein two home countries:

MEXICO

LAWS:

1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 18. Imprisonment of 3 to 8 years applies to anyone "who facilitates or procures" the corruption of a minor under 18 years of age, education about sexuality or sexually transmitted diseases cannot be considered as corruption of minors.

2. Mexico City has a gay rights law that bans some anti-gay discrimination. The law prohibits provocation or incitement of hate or violence, and bans bias in employment and public accommodations and services. The penalty for violation of the law will be one to three years in prison and/or a fine equal to 50 to 200 days’

salary and/or 25 to 100 days of community service.

NOTE:

1. Pedro Joaquin-Coldwell, Ambassador to Cuba, is openly bisexual.

2. Patria Jimenez (PRT), is an openly lesbian member of the Chamber of Deputies.

And...

URUGUAY

LAWS:

1. Has no sodomy laws.

NOTE:

1. Workers at the Cooperativa Bancaria through their collective bargaining agreement receive health and other benefits for their unmarried same-sex partners. <<< Wooooo for my lil straighty country!

And Russia!

RUSSIA

LAWS:

1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 14 for oral sex[*], and 16 for anal sex. Sexual intercourse, muzhelozhstvo [anal intercourse between men], or lesbianism wittingly committed by a person over 18 on a person under 16 is punished by limitation of freedom up to 3 years or deprivation of freedom up to 4 years.

2. Homosexuals are banned from the military.

3. The Russian Health Ministry's new classification of mental and behaviour disorders no longer categorises "homosexual orientation" as a "personality disturbance" or any other kind of problem.

COURT:

1. A court in Moscow ordered a newspaper to pay a fine for an article it did claiming the countries gay publication promotes necrophillia and pedophillia, it must also publish a retraction of its earlier story.

NOTE:

1. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is anti-gay.
[*] That explains why Lena and Yulia happened to be lesbians at 14 but hetero at 13... Since as I think your imagination is working, guys, oral sex is commonplace among lesbians. :P

ypsidan04, Canada is quite simple because it is very open to homosexuality. US isn't there because it'd take a lot to degrain 51 states. Australia, I dunno.

LOL, Darje
But the author of this page forgot to mention the main thing about Russia: nobody cares to follow all these stupid laws. They are made more to look good in the eyes of some important western countries and unions. Ppl just have more serious problems to think about.

The fuuniest part is the law about military. It's a new one.
And it would be more fair to change the word 'banned' to 'saved' in the part 2. Need to mention NOBODY in Russia wants to go to the army and if some years ago young ppl were trying to find any illness that would save them, now before going to the health commission they put on some make-up and a boa. God, this law will make half of the male population of this country gay
*returnes to the thoughts about symbolism of the russian flag*

Well, everyone here should know that about Canada. I was just thinking they would define it anyway. Even if they just said "There are no laws against it", that would be fine.

You're right about the US. It's not a National thing, so it's hard to do. The only state I'm sure of that has done anything about homosexual rights is Vermont (Yay, Howard Dean! ). And I'm not sure, but I think Oregon also did something.

FRANCE
LAWS: _
1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 15 for all.

2. Has a national gay rights law that bans some anti-gay discrimination including employment, service, public or private.

3. Allows homosexuals in its military, but homosexuals may be excused from compulsory service if they make a case for being (adversely psychologically affected).
Well, there is actually no compulsory service in France so i don't know where they got that from?!

Quote:
4. Has a partnership law that grants registered couples, gay or straight, romantic or not, many of the rights of marriage. The law applies in areas such as income tax, inheritance, housing, immigration, health benefits, job transfers, synchronized vacation time, responsibility for debts, and social welfare. It does not grant equality in the areas of parental rights, adoption or medically assisted procreation. Unlike heterosexual couples who get married, registered partners will tie the knot before a court rather than at the town hall. They also will not be allowed to file a joint tax return until they've been together three years. Married people can do so immediately.__

5. On the Left Bank of Paris, there are laws targeting cross-dressers. Just appearing in disguise on a public thoroughfare is a violation except for designated carnival days (Advent not included), and there's an even bigger fine for taking photographs without permission on a public road in the company of a transvestite.______ Actually the word is "transvesti", which usually refers to a cross-dresser but can also be taken as simply a person in fancy dress.
There is no law specific to the left bank of Paris. Laws are the same everywhere in France. It's forbidden to wear a 'disguise' in a plublic area except on 'carnival days'.

Quote:
6. Bans artificial insemination for lesbians.

NOTE: _
1. President Jacques Chirac is very anti-gay.

5. Senator Bertrand Delanoe (Socialist) Paris, is openly gay.
I'm not a fan of Chirac but i wouldn't say is anti-gay, i'd say that he tries to stay neutral on the subject and not get involved! Lol

Actually Bertrand Delanoe is the mayor of Paris and, yes, openly gay.
