Im pretty sure that's what it is.... I remember when I was still in school, and Napster was still a functioning FREE download of mp3 and my friend Geoff had 7GB of mp3 i would just look him up on Napster and get songs from him for like 3secs/song ... while it was taking me 20secs-1min from other people not on our network

I have wireless here as well, but dont ask me what speed, in fact, i have to admit, since ive been living in usa, i have never had to complain about internet speed, since i was at school in the begining when i couldnt affort it at home, and now, i DOUBT anyone in america is still on dial-up (i hope). dont know about Europe, but where i live most cafes(not internet cafes, dose dont really exist here, since i doubt it would be profitable, just regular cafe shops) now have FREE wireless connections for people to use with their laptops (usually students studying or whatever). But I can definatelly tell the speed difference when i am in BG ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

cool... if only that were true. Most of my friends from school have dial-up at home, I'm finally getting my cable network hooked up at home this weekend, but I've had dial up since 1991. The only reason I even had the internet that early in the 90's was because my mom worked for a university in Rochester and my brother and I could log on to their network with our mom's password.

Yep, actually it's a 20Mb/s line, but i'm "only" getting 8Mb/s because the phone line needs to be upgraded, the phone company will do that in the near future.

This is the ISP, it's 29.99 euros a month, and that includes the 20Mb/s internet line, digital TV, and regular phone line (no call costs inside France).

mmm ok... for all those on dial-up. U can feel lucky now and have a good laugh here comes MY story.

I won't even tell much about the times (about 1-2 years ago) i was on dial-up when lived with my parents. I was having about 33kb speed for about 1.2$ per hour =) yah, that was fun (there was no unlimited dial-up in my area). Then i got this 28-36 kb dial up from 00.00 to 7 am for 30$ per month I was actually happy with it, even if it could take 2 hours to get online lol Since that time i dont sleep at nights lol
Then i finally got faster connection. Radio Ethernet. 100mbs LAN and 10mbs internet. 3$ per month and no traffic included. Just 1.2$ for each MB. In the end i was using about 400-500MB per month and paying around 70$. And yah, there was no other option. Now i have there same speed but 45$ for 800MBs of traffic and then 0.5$ more for each MB. Whats the point of being able to load 20MB vid in 5 seconds if u cant download much without going bankrupt? I have no idea.

Now the MOST interesting part. I moved out and 6 days a week I live at some flat in Moscow. I'm using dial-up of the most stable provider may be (still it constantly dies every coupl of hours when i have big file on 70-98% lol). The speed is 30-45 kbs usually (faaaaaaaaaast). No monthly payment. I have to count every minute. And as it costs about a dollar at the time Im online.. yah yah.. i end up paying 25-30$ per WEEK.. wich makes it 100-120$ per month for connection that drives me MAD. And nah, Im not online 24/7. I still have to count minutes at times. U can guess i have a good reason for visiting my parents every week lol This way i can relax at least 1 night in a week

Right now i'm trying to get 256/128 unlimited for 25$ per month. And when I will.. I'll be the happiest person on this damn earth. I swear.

100$ for crappy slow internet is just crazy!
i spend around 10-15? a month and the prices are 50cent () an hour (19-07) and 1? (07-19)... that's 64k
but soon i plan on getting 384/64 768MB for 14? a month, which will be a huge upgrade for me...
then we can celebrate together
