The Halloween Thread

Hey everybody! I hardly ever post on here these days but i figured i'd get everyone in the Halloween spirit. I'm not sure how big or small this celebration is in other countries, but here in California it's a big event. What's everybody doing and what is your costume?

I'm gonna be a cowboy. Boots, hat, and all

well, since i am still in California, here is how we celebrated Halloween last night ... 2 of the guys at my school are DJs, so they got a big wearhouse for all of us architecture students (plus other people) to party while they spin

2 of 3 from team Zissou in the background - me and 2 of my friends went as the Life Aquatics

the 3rd Zissou

the girl Zissous dancing

no more photos, please

Zissou with the Latina inmate this is my group partnet for one of my classes and she had such GREAT outfit with 2 other latino girls (dont mind she is asian, she grew up all over the place and longest in Argentina) .... too bad at this point she has taken her wig off, she looked SO good with it... also, there is something dirty about this pic... you know how those l;atin women are..... caliente!

the other Zissous with the tooth Fairy

oh Tooth Fairy...... oh wait, here is me again (back) talking to the Latina and Steven Segal

couple pics without me:
the cute gay boy couple with the owner of the camera... forgot the name of his character, but he SO looks like him (it's from a movie that comes out next friday)

here he is again with the dead librarian

I don't celebrate Halloween... but at my school we had a huge Halloween celebration; most people dressed up (because the rule was to dress up that day ) in all sorts of fun costumes, but I of course didn't bring my camera, besides it would feel strange to take photos of people I don't know. Anyway, the girls in my class were cats, and one was a witch. Two guys in my class were dressed as women, one classy and the other one slutty

Then they showed movies non-stop in our "Movie room" on a big screen, I was just in time for House of Wax, but I couldn't see the ending. Then the kitchen staff coloured the food in different colours, so the rice was green, the sauce was red etc. and on the menu it said "Dracula's teeth" instead of "Chicken bits" and so on

What else? Oh they put a pumkin on the steps outside but someone kicked it away lol. And they had decorated the whole school. So it was a nice celebration

Borat is awesome! At the dating service thingy: "If she cheat on me, I crush her." "I want her vagina to be tight like a man's anus." lolol

Question to the non-Americans. Where you live, do you have a thing called 'Trick-or-Treating' where the kids would go door to door and ask for candy? Just wondering if it's only here.

We do have it in the UK, but I don't think it's as popular here. It's generally mostly done by older kids who see it as an excuse to steal stuff from younger kids and throw eggs at houses or, more often, people

sounds like here too. The last time I went trick-o-treating was two years ago with some friends. We got a huge bucket of margareta mix and I dumped like 2 liters of tequila into it. Then we all ran around my neighborhood getting completely trashed, dressed as soldiers. It was fun trying to avoid cops since we were all underage at the time.

This year I just went out to the club with my friends. My friend Kade dressed in drag, he makes a hot girl

in denmark the kids dress up and go to school and bang the shit out of a barrel with sweets in it. then they go trick-or-treating before it gets dark.. still not as big of a deal as halloween - oh and it's in february instead (49 days before easter sunday if i remember correcly). i think it came from some old catholic thingy but can't be sure as i haven't been in school for over 10 years and i'm not too bothered really..

I never experienced it first hand until I moved to a quieter neighborhood, last year we had some kids do trick-or-treating... but it was definitely not such a big happening compared to the US. We just got maybe 2 kids knock on our door. We gave them some candy and money (for a class trip) and then my mom asked them if she can have a piece of candy, LOL, she is not so familiar with the rules

Here Halloween wasn't even known let's say 10 years ago, but the retail industry saw it as a good opportunity to create another consuming fest so they've advertized it more and more in the past years.
Now supermarkets and stores in general sell Halloween themed products; night clubs, bars, restaurants, etc organize Halloween nights and some people have Halloween parties in their homes. Just another excuse to eat and drink, lol.
I don't think kids go trick-or-treating though, i've never seen any, i don't think parents are very inclined to let their kids roam free in the night these days.

That would be Mardi Gras, similar to Halloween (costumes, candy, food and drinks) without the morbid fascination for death, lol, there are generally carnivals organized around Mardi Gras.

my neighborhood is not very cool lol of course, we have all the candy and dressed stuff
but the tricks are strange, once some kids injured another one to rob his candies
or they steal something from your garden or from your car ... hmmm I don't know how to say that in english, so they steal that
and as always, the older ones find funny to burn few cars (it's the same for christmas, new year's eve ...)

i was thinking it was too but turns out this is actually an old german catholic tradition called fastelavn (here anyway, not sure about germany) - basically it used to be something about a religious fast.. might have something to do with shrovetide/shrove monday/quinquagesima..

We're talking about the same thing.

Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday all refer to the last day of Carnival or Shrovetide, the day before Ash Wednesday when the 40 days fasting period of Lent begins. It's all tied to Christianity.

well dunno if u care 'bout this but im bored so i wanna say wut's like here in argentina. i go to a catholic highschool so we celebrate outside school. usually the discos organize special parties u know, special decoration and food and drinks. we go at about 1 am and stay until 8 or something. theres music, treasure hunts, food, alcohol and drugs and all that shit. we also wear dark costumes (of course theres always the stupid girl dressed as playboy totally lost among dead bodies, bats and pumpkins haha its really funny). and the little children also disguise themselves and go door by door asking for candies. if they're not given any they throw eggs to the door... its really funny in the morning when many doors are dirty hahaha!
