Other Sports

Tug of War is probably the most enjoyable sport to do. It’s not bad to watch if you are at the competition, but it has to be by far the most boring sport to watch on TV.

Click here to watch to scintillating, laugh a minute, live coverage of the World Championships from Stenungsund, Sweden: http://stage.bowlstream.tv/tugofwar/Default_en.aspx

EDIT:
My connection is slow and my picture is frozen most of the time. Once I look at the screen and thought it had stopped again until someone walked along the rail in the background.

I’m disappointed that England failed to medal in the 560. The gold of Sweden was a huge surprise.

EDIT 2:
I think the final of the 680 was well contested. It looked a bit like that from what I could see. Anyway Holland finished up winners over the Swiss.

I’m sure loads of people must be kicking themselves for missing today’s feed. Well the good news is: the live coverage is available again tomorrow. Things can’t get much better than this.

EDIT 3. 07/09/08:
Well another World Championships is over. England’s haul was one silver medal (not the best display ever).
Even though my monitor was frozen most of the time, the live coverage gave a good idea how the pulling went. Exciting stuff indeed.

Cycling.
The World Road Championships start in Varese, Italy today. I think we will find a lot more interest on this forum than there was for the tug of war.

Time trials for the first three days and the unmissable road races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can feel the excitement.

Tug of War ^_^ class...!

Well chicken is always a good one. Lay in the middle of the road and see who moves out of the way first, you or the car/truck. First to move loses. Of course that’s a joke. Guess a have to post about the highland games. Tossing the caber, throwing the hammer, sprinting wrestling or trying to trip up your opponent) none of this fake fighting steroid crap. You have your bagpipers also, but that and the dancing isn’t really thought of a sport a guess.

Info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_games Also particularly read about other "heavy games" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlan...s#Heavy_Events Other than that its "fitbaw" where im from (football to the rest of you) a good bit of exercise that is, excellent when your playing in the snow. But we dont get snow here anymore, which is crap...!!!!

This could be an interesting thread.

The benefits of having a strong team were demonstrated again as Olympic champion Nicole Cooke won today’s thrilling World Championship road race. TV sport at it’s best.

After the massive interest shown in last year's World Tug of War Championships I thought it would be a good idea to post info on this year's European Championships to be held at DeSmelt, Assen, The Netherlands on 17 – 20 September 2009. Here is a link to the programme for the event: http://www.touwtrekken.com/WK%202009...09%20Assen.htm

The Dutch have been allowed to drop the 560-kilo competition from the event, so we have lost the best pulling.

More info can be found here: http://www.touwtrekken.com/

EDIT 16/09/09:
Short vid of tug of war can be seen here: http://www.ektouwtrekken2009.nl/ (Normally teams just hang there for an age before doing anything, but these vids show a bit of action, which makes the sport look more thrilling than it actually is.)
I think a live feed will be available here for the next four days. The excitement is building.
