For anyone who doesn't have any antivirus programs at all try
http://www.grisoft.com and go and get their free version. Any protection is better than none. Or go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and they'll give you a free online scan. Worked for me. |

Thankfully i avoided Blaster due to me still being om Windows ME.
Sometimes it pays to have an old PC that when you look at it you wonder where the coal goes

blaster virus sucks ***.
 it disabled this lappytop for over a month!! take a few hundred dollars later and add a computer science graduate and it's back online.

well Darje shutting out your computer will do nothing against the virus, because when that message appears it has already infected your computer send itself to more people and it's just rebooting to patch your OS... and god I know how annoying is that thing! in the same day with only MSN open I got Blaster, Welchia, and Sobig all the three different variants of the original blaster  how cute isn't it? Thank god that that damn virus do nothing else....just restarting and sending itself again...it would be a bitch if it erased .dlls or normal files... imagine this I have the three FIX TOOLS from symantec (norton) I got infected run one and deleted the virus...when my computer was clean I got infected again...it's soooo damn friggin annoying.... and I can't install the patch because I don't have the latest updates of WINXP (Xtremadamente Pendejo) soooo for the time being I'm exiled to my old laptop...where old but loyal Windows 98 it's installed... |

Sobig is a nightmare.It's easy enough to avoid though just don't open unexpected e mails with attachments.
The attachments are usually always about 99-103k in size and are usually called Thank You,Re-Cool ScreenSaver,Re-Your Details or a few other titles. For a full detail check out the Trnd Micro database i mentined above.Its very thorough |

you don't have to have the latest update of WinXP (i don't have any). just download the patch "WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe" and install it, along with the latest update from norton

crni, my dear I tried that :P heheheh but the problem is that my computer has the update.inf file wrong(kinda frustrating that I have the patch and when I executed it "error, bla bla bla check that cryptographic service is running in your computer have a nice day :P") ...so either I download all the past updates or format the computer... maybe I'll try the second one when I have time...until that I can live in my old laptop.

karxwp, well...you could wait a little more till symantec releases some more antivirus updates...and then format c: and reinstall xp and install all the updates for norton av (along with that hotfix for xp) and you should be safe for some time being...

o.O After all these years of no anti-virus program I finally checked if I had any viruses and I didn't! w00t! Talk about luck :P

just have to back up everything :S thing that annoys me like you have no idea, but I'm getting tired of this Win 98 laptopQueenBee windows 98...it's kinda nice...not as great (graphically speaking) as Windows XP but it's not so bad...the thing that annoys me it's that I can't download a thing cause this laptop doesn't have a damn burner...how do I survive? well it's better than no internet afterall
