Exclamation Freedom Fries?! WTF!!!

I'm sorry to post this, really, because I know it is going to cause some shit in this thread but I have to comment on it.

Ok, so changing all the shit that had "French" to "Freedom" in it to satisfy anti-French attitude in America is just plain, good ol' fashion crazy!
Then again, having the anti-American attitude sweeping across Europe (France in particular) is plain, good ol' fashion arrogant.

I hate it both, equally.
Can't we all just get along people and Freedom Kiss* each other?

Freedom Kiss* tm Tina Fey of SNL/thegurgi's brother.

But it IS horribly ridiculous....
another rather hilarious addition to the Freedom Fries, toast and kisses is the Freedom Ticklers <---courtesy of Jon Stewart
It's ok if you don't get it...and i know, it's bad.

It is so very stupid. Sure we may feel betrayed by France backing out from supporting us, but they are just not wanting war. Neither do most Americans. There is a difference between standing up for your friends, and joining them in something you do not believe in. France doesn't believe in this war. They have that right. I hoenstly have no clue what my opinion is on it. I definitely feel something needs to happen, but I jsut wish more diplomatic, or anything would be exercised before war. Changing everything French to Freedom just makes US look immature, so childish.

Time to demolish the Statue of Libery I guess. After all, that was a gift from France.

Yep. Completely moronic knee-jerk reaction.

Sort of "on topic."

Just finished listening to the President's talk. Sound's pretty grim. He gave 48 hours for Sadam Husein (sp?) and his family to leave Iraq or "hostilities" will begin at thereafter at a time of the Allies' choosing.

I don't know how I feel, as well. I don't hate the French; I'm an American of German, Irish and English descent; and we all certainly "love" the Russians (or at least a select few of them :: ).

There are just so many undercurrents here. Economic power, military posturing, position and control in the Middle-East.

The only thing I can fall back to is that this situation has been brewing for about 12 years now, and I think that a great deal of the collective patience is up.

Pray for peace, friends, and hope for a short war if -- or more likely when -- it comes.

Hussein. I have no stance on the war, despite my little artistic stint at it.

I prefer to stay out of political debate. Politics only make me want to shake my head. The world's getting smaller, and yet we're all still so far apart. Eh.

Yo honestly, the whole Freedom thing is really funny. Or at least I find it funny.

But what I find really disturbing is that whole Dixie Chicks situation. I mean holy shit, you can't even say what you think anymore?! They have to apologize for what they think now!!!
(Personally, I think they kinda had it coming and were stupid not to see it.)

Freedom Fries is just a funny application of the censorship that is going on right now. Celebrities are not allowed to talk shit about the war or Bush. Now I have never been a fan a celebrities preaching politics when clearly they don't know shit about what they are talking about.
But Goddamn!
When news program can't do shit about reporting remotely objective material about the war, I'm actually happy to see that some prominent people are saying something or at least trying to say something against either Bush or the war.

And it says a lot that celebrities that are pro-war do not get censored at all. In fact, they are considered patriots.

Now I'm not going to get into Iraq. This issue is clearly about the Freedom of Speech. The very same freedom Bush was illustrating what was so great about the States.
And now people are trying to take that shit away?

End rant.

Oh, wake up guys, America is always like that.
It is not necessarily bad- it's just the way it is...

I have no opinion on this war either- which is strange, cause usually I do have an opinion on this sort of thing...
War is bad, doing nothing is bad, who knows what is GOOD?

Let's see what happens.

PS- I'm kinda glad Canada decided to stay away from this , though...

(For people who don't know- I live in Canada)

Seems to me like everybody slept through History class. Remember that little Revolutionary War we had? Where we claimed our Independence? Well ask any hisotrian that without the French, we would've probably never won the war and claimed our Independence.

Ehhh....

I live in the US. Im an army brat (meaning child of a soldier for those of you outside of the US) and my mother is a FED Govt. employee. Though my opinions may seem biased, one thing stands true always with me. The way our govt is run is like this: "What you see, isnt what you get." I know for a fact that the average american doesnt know half of what is going on. We only know what we are told.
Because of that, i try not to form an opinion (never works, but i try) because i know i dont know half the story, let alone the whole story.
I place my trust in my govt. in things like this. So until im 40, ill trust that Bush Jr is doing the right thing.

<end rant>

Well, I'm 40, and I don't trust Bush Jr. There is clearly an agenda here other than the threat of terrorism, but the powers that be chose not to tell us.

What you see is never what you get.

But I'm Viet. I'm biased when it comes to "trusting" the American government.

Either way, I still abstain from choosing sides. Me no likie politics.

I can understand you not liking politics. My brother refuses to talk politics becuase it only makes him mad. I feel I must be involved and vote, or I deserve to be treated like a mushroom.

Well hell, I'm Arabic and American AND am trusting Bush.

I may not enjoy the way this has all played out, but I admire the fact that Bush is finally saying "Ya know what? This needs to get finished. I don't need your support anymore if you're just going to take it back."

If Gore was in office, this would just be lying dormant for another 4 years, festering. This whole thing NEEDS to be played out. It needs to be done and over.

We needed a President who would take charge and actually DO something. I think we knew sitting around and talking wasn't going to solve anything. How long have we been talking with him about everything? Far too long that we needed to be.

I agree Ripptyd!

I am not a huge fan of Bush but I am certainly glad that something is being done about this. Who knows what would have happened if everyone just sat around and waited.. I'm not saying that I'm certain something WOULD have happened, I just don't want another 9/11..

I don't really support the US, but I don't not support them.. I guess I don't really support anyone, only myself. Afterall, I'm the only one who I trust...
