I realised that it's not helpful to chastise myself every time I have an unproductive day. However, acheivement requires effort. I need to find a balance.

At some point in the year, I want very much to continue work on the songs I was writing before I came to Russia. I have guitar parts written for about twenty songs.I want to buy some synthesizers and so on and bulk up what I have. I'm content with this being a long term goal. However, I left my guitars in England. I have realised, by virtue of how much I miss them, that I was more serious about songwriting
than I thought.

I would also like to see a continued improvement in my prose. I want the courage to continue something to a reasonable length, rather than continually falling into the trap of redrafting the same passages over and over. It's one thing to prove I can write an inspiring first five pages. Another thing entirely to write the next hundred and fifty or so.

That's a list of sorts.

Oh, I have plenty of time to do my work - it's just that my boss is a useless manager, so there's a general climate of anxiety because none of us knows what we're meant to be doing. And none of the bosses talk to each other (well, not about important stuff). And my boss doesn't speak Japanese, so most communications have to go through me or my boyfriend. Which increases our workload (his more than mine, poor dab).

Anyway, I'm not going to think about it as I'm enjoying being relaxed and stress-free. Am currently doing a little light freelance work about the recycling of electrical appliances. The weather's shit, but I don't care, as I have plenty of food and therefore don't have to go outside (though contemplating a trip to the drugstore to buy some bright blue nail varnish for the countdown party tonight). There's not much housework crying out for my attention and I've got plenty of clean dishes. So this is contentment, for me. My needs are simple and my wants few. Until I see something I like at Amazon. Now all I have to do is rein in my tendency towards impulse-buying
