is it finished?

no it's starting again. I suspect Greece will give points to that Israeli song merely on the basis that they say "s'agapo" in the chorus. It's like it was written 30 years ago.

So far I liked iceland, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus and hmm Russia.

it means "I love you" ( what else could it mean? )

I haven't listened to Norway's song before. Is it good?
France has an oriental touch, I haven't listened to that before either. The songs sounds a lot more decent than last year's contest. although that Polish guy right now is a bit painful to listen to

how about Sweden's ;)

I haven't listened to that one either.
Belgium is a wild card. As I don't like the Eurovision pop much , I'd give them 10 or 12 points. But it could be a complete failure, of course.
I'd give Estonia a point or two..maybe

spyretto, Sweden is next to the last one, in 5 minutes. It's a typical Eurovision, pure pop, some ABBA-rip off as usual, but it hits drectly. Belgium is stuck back in 1995 when ethno ruled.

Romanian vid is sooooo funny!!!! Hahahaha!!! Forre is rolling on the floor ...

After watching and listening all songs... who is your favourite? Be honest! Okay: We love tatu, but...

Hmmm ... falks, seriously! I doubt that t.A.T.u. wins. I'd say Spain, Iceland and UK will beat them without any problem. On the other hand Eurovision is very unpredictable. Any of the top entries slips on a tone and it's out, no matter how good it is.

...Spain...

It's a more "popular" song. And I confess: I like it. It's catchy.

But of couse I will vote for Russian. But I predict Spain.

yeah, I predict spain too..
Haven't heard all of the tunes I must confess. I watched the entries between 3 and 12 on tnt.
And Spains weren't bad at all. The video was very nice too..

Can't vote, but I will hope for Russia though. Best song, and (I hope) best preformance..

My review: Part I

1. Iceland - an average well composed song. Running first and can be well forgotten by the end. Top 10. (top performance and it will win! Don't burry it yet!)
2. Austria - Oh yeh! They did it again! Excuse me? What's that? A theme for a cartoon? Bottom of the chart.
3. Ireland - never fails to sing live. Irish people can sing in the sleep. The song is not impressive though. Will probably end up as number 12-17.
4. Turkey - the national drums never work at Eurovision. Gives me a feeling of Shakira. Should score well from the neighbours and Germany of course.
5. Malta - sweet but boring. Early 90's. Will end up 15-20.
6. Bosnia-H - sounds a bit like the last year's winner. With a good performance, it shuld score a few points. 10-15.
7. Portugal - beautiful song in itself, but such songs don't work in the Eurovision anylonger. Bottom position. I don't believe the singer will hold the line either. Just a feeling.
8. Croatia - a very jumpy song. Can't imagine it being performed well enough in English. 20-26.
9. Cyprus - velvet voice, pure summer pop. Sunshine and dancing on the beach all the night! Top 10.
10. Germany - do I smell Ralf Siegel here? Right! A masterpiece from the contest's point of you. Once "the girl" gets enough stylist's work, she should win. It's possible.
11. Russia - can't judge this song objectively. I like t.A.T.u.'s style. Fame and fresh tunes should do its work. Top 5. Girls!!! Don't mess up the performance! Keeping my fingers crossed.
12. Spain - a modern Eurovision pop. Very even structure, great voice and with some latino moves it can win. Top 3!
13. Israel - pressing the stop button after 20 seconds. "Israel - 0 points".

My review: Part II

14. Holland - nothing too new and nothing too old. Should do rather well. Top 10.
15. UK - pop-pop-pop. The duo looks good on stage. United Kingdom - 5 points. Top 10.
16. Ukraine - welcome to Eurovision Ukraine! They watched Eurovision on the TV and seem to pick up the basic rules. position 10-13.
17. Greece - an average Eurovision. Crying, heartbreaking and anonymous. Will be forgotten with the last tune. Position 22-26.
18. Norway - a sweet song, a sweet guy who can sing. Will he be nervous in Riga? - Yes. And finally 12 points from Sweden goes to Norway! Neighbours, you know... psss. The song is good. position 12-15.
19. France - I like this song. Is it something wrong with me? Probably. Position 15-20.
20. Poland - ah, I'm old and senile and like national anthems! Top 10 or last or top 5? I have no idea!
21. Latvia - a pro trio with a pro song. A lightning never hits the same tree twice. Nevertheless top 10!
22. Belgium - ethno is a history. No way! position 20.
23. Estonia - What happened with Estonia? Lack of new ideas? This is boring and awful. Position 18-21.
24. Romania - at last Romania comes with something European and well composed. Not enough to win the whole contest though. Position 10-16.
25. Sweden - ABBA is back and it always works. Have I heard this song before? Of course. Recognizable, and perfectly constructed and professionally produced. Top 5.
26. Slovenia - dangerous, dangerous! Top 7.

--------------------------------------------------------------

On 24th May this predisction will proove to be wrong! He-he-he.
It's all about the performance. See you all in Riga!

Are you kidding me? This is synth-pop that died in the late 80s. This song reminds me of the 1986 winner by "Sandra Kim" - "J'aime La Vie" (I was only 6 years old then)
The music tastes have moved on from then. Although Karmen has a great singing voice live. But the lyrics make me psycally sick.

My vote go to Romania (you're right spyretto, she's a Taylor Dayne wannabie ), Spain (but it lacks the drive to push it to the top), Sweden (Wa wa wa wa wateroo ) and of course Russia (12 points from Poland, Chech Rep, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romunia, Ukraine, possibly some foormer Yulgoslavian counties - not us 'though, our 12 points are by tradition reserved for Croatia).

I personaly belive that Austria should be banned from Eurovision forever.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

yeah, I couldn't stand Slovenia

Actually I only listen to the songs I like. I can't stand the cheesy ones like Holland, the awful ones like Austria, the stupid ones like Germany.
I'm not so sure you'd score top 5, forre. People in ESC forums are already hating the song
Why Abba, next time they'd do something sounding like Roxette or Ace of Base. There're so many good acts that have come from Sweden.

I'm returning Dime at the top 5, at the expense of Iceland . You see? I placed Tatu at number 3 - and you're telling me that I'm a basher!

Ethnic is definitely not dead. They were saying the same things about metal and look where it is now. Anyway, the whole Eurovision is a gathering of ethnicities, innit?

Germany: she's not a "girl", she's an old hag. I'm not Tatu, I can say that can't I? It's an acquired taste that song and I don't have it

But yeh, I won't be shocked if Sweden, or Germany win Eurovision. Or even Tatu, for that matter.

spyretto,

She certainly is.

I was taking the start position into my review too. The latter the better. Another thing I was taking into the calculation is the average age of the televoters which is 35. And what those ones will be doing on the Saturday night (24th May)? Drinking beer and voting! Likely. So Eurovision is about a strategy!

yeah I agree

but maybe we should be looking for another surprising song to win it? This one seems plain stupid.
Or it could just be Tatu because of excessive speed ?
And what about Dime? Dime is quite a pleasant song and many people prefer it. It heads the polls as well. Well, who knows?

I remember kicking myself watching that Estonian song win over Antique 2 years ago. I was thinking what on earth is that? at least it could have been a nicer song. and the year before, those two brothers, just ordinary. I preferred Brainstorm, of course. Those brothers' song was something like Ireland's song this year.
Luckily last year's winner was nice and I remember that I was overwhelmed and surprised by her performance as many people did. And it's still a nice song/great performance.

The performance lifted the song.

btw, which chorus the Ukrainian song copies almost shamelessly? I know it for sure but it just eludes me.
It's not the worst song though, there're lots more boring.
Why would Sweden and Holland do anything when there's another song in the same style, which is much better (Iceland's ). without saying that they're bad songs, just mediocre. Sweden's a bit better than Holland's - I think...maybe
But both are sooooo cheesy
