What I want to know is what happened to the Seperation of church and state? Since when could a politician use the Bible as a valid argument against something? Not everybody in this country believes in God or the Bible. That in my opinion is what makes the US suck an awesome place to live. Freedom to believe whatever or whoever you want and to not have other people's beliefs forced on you.

Because the laws where derived from the teachings of the Bible.. Our founding fathers modeled the constitution on the Bible. Why do you think it says In God We Trust on the mighty dollar? Anyhow, I do agree that one's religion should not be a valid argument for a politician. As a christian bush himself should not try to enforce our religion unto others, it is not his place to do so. The same goes for the pope. But it's really not up to Bush, its up to the senate, which i'm going to blindly assume are mostly christians, or why else would the pope make such a statement if he knew he couldn't influence alot of people. argh i have so many issues with the catholic church and the vatican..
