Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...I know it is French music really, but I was confused as to where I should put it because supposedly she is a big Russian artist?

Anyways, I just heard some of her songs, namely her big hit Tu Es Foutu (You Are Fu*ked Up)
and I really found it intriguing (especially since I am majoring in French and Russian!) that she was so popular in Russia. The music is interesting, and I was wondering if anyone has the songs by chance as well as any other information.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I think the correct translation of "Tu Es Foutu " isn't what you think but rather "You are lost" (when you fail in something-->it's your "end" or the "end " of your project... )...You say "Tu es foutu" when the other is in a very bad situation and doesn't know how he/she can exit from this situation ...
I 've never heard this expression used with the meaning that you suggest..

sunwalk, If you are really lost and desperate you are very much fucked up. So the translation seems correct enough. According to the info I heard when this song was in the airplay here, this song is dedicated to her ex-boyfriend and she sings these words for him.

I read the lyrics : tu es foutu is written just for the rythm..

The meaning is not good...
Tu es foutu here could be translated by "you're out"
but in this case, is "fuck*d up" good ? i don't think so ....

Or it could mean , in the context of the song, you 're a "male bitch"....so ""fuck*d up" could be good ...except that "male bitch" is never translated by Tu es foutu....

But it could be a funny song...

When I heard that for the first time on the radio, I thought it was absolutely horrible, a monotone composition - boring to death. The problem is that Swedish radio didn't care about my feelings at all and played it about 30 times a day. First I hated it, then I hated it more, after I thought I'll get an allergic reaction in a form of psychosis. BUT! Instead of all above, after a super effective brainwashing action from the Swedish radio, I started to like the song. Yep, and finally I liked it enough to enjoy the whole thing. That's how you promote music!

Lol, sorry, I knew what the literal translation of Tu Es Foutu meant, but I too read somewhere that she was using it to mean You are fu*ked up.
Yeah, the song isn't super great or anything, but it is interesting, is there anywhere to get her other songs?

I think the writers have confused "tu es foutu" and "va te faire foutre", same verb but not same meaning...
Maybe the writers didn't know French that well.

Probably the text writers put together lyrics out of the "hook" and built rytms around that hook. We may be searching for the meaning while the lyrics are a pure rubbish. So, nothing to worry about. I think the second single they played here by In-Grid was In Tango.

Just an interesting note, they use In-Grid's music from "Tu Es Foutu" in Micheal Hill jewelery shop commercial on TV here... lol... it became like ther theme song. I'm pretty sure that In-Grid isn't aware of it for some reason... Hmmm...
