I grew up and lived in Russia for a big part of my life, however for the last 4 years I live in Vancouver BC.
Massie's book is indeed very good. Doesn't he mention nuclear DNA testing? Anyway, it was done in order to remove all possible doubt, and many people were sceptical initially as to whether it should be done at all, because nuclear DNA is a lot less stable and has more chance of being contaminated- but it turned out very well, only the deviation I've mentioned above caused some concern, and that is why Great Duke George's body was exhumed. When exact same deviation was found in his DNA all questions about the identity disappeared. |

that's great to hear Jan. it's great to know that most of the Royal family rests in Peace indoubtebly (i'll have to reread Massie's book and look for the nuclear testing part). I hope to visit both grave sites some day (and trust me, I will).
