Thanks, spy. I saw it last spring. A hard movie. Modysson has a pemiere now with his new picture "Ett hål i mitt hjärta" (A hole in my heart), with the scenes of sexual violence, disgusting athmosphere and dirty affairs. It's in the cinemas across Sweden now and doesn't seem to do it very well.

i just saw the movie this evening and i must say that's the most depressing movie i've ever seen
 i just feel bad for everything that has happened to Lilja, even though it's only a movie... but it looks so damn real!! and when i saw that kid sniffing glue, i remembered a documentary i saw 2 yrs ago about homeless kids in st. petersburg doing exactly the same thing and that WAS for real  so, after watching this geniuos piece of art, i must say i'm impressed by the effect it had on me (cause no movie had that impact on me) and it is by far the best movie i've ever seen. |

There's a film which is even worse than Lilja 4-ever, called "Grave of the Fireflies" ( Hotaru no Haka ). If Lilja had some saving graces - like the angels bit - Hotaru no Haka has none.
Highly recommended if you like anime and for a day you're so depressed you can't get any more. For some reason it made me think of Lilja 4-ever straight away - the similarities are obvious enough. Japanese version with subtitles is preferable

I got Lilya 4-Ever on DVD last January. It arrived just after the Ivan bashing episode of the “Reality” Show, but before the Live Chat.
As soon as I saw the angel wings I got a real bad feeling about tatu. It spoiled the film for me. I could not properly concentrate on it. I haven’t watched it since. I’ll give it another go this week. |

In the promo pics for the “Reality” Show, tatu were shown with angel wings. It just seemed it could have all been a high profile and very public way to kill off group tatu. The movie has the NND link with tatu.

When I was in Sweden with sasha this summer, she had the DvD at her apartment and I really wanted to see it ... but I have to admit, I made her STOP it before they had even gotten into Sweden ... I was just NOT in the mood to watch such depressing thing on the day I had arrived. So, after wanting to see the movie so bad, when i finally had a chance, i still didint. Havent seen it to date ... i will think about it..

I can't believe tATu managed to ruin this movie for you - they had absolutely nothing to do with it! If you have an aversion to angels as a result of the 'Podnebesnaya' ad-campain then there's a helluva lot of movies that you are now going to find completely unwatchable. I feel sorry for you - now you'll never know how great 'All Dogs Go To Heaven' really is.
BTW, I thought the "angel wings" thing totally spoiled the mood of this film. Everything in it was so gritty and realistic untill they decided to schmaltz it up. I thought it would have been pretty clear who was dead and who wasn't without giving the characters wings! That was just straight-up cheesy!
