the return - возвращение
i've been in the movies last night and i saw this great movie. an ex-tatysite member pointed it out to me few days after i told her i've watched (and liked) lilja 4-ever... so she told me that i should definitely watch this movie, and imagine the coincidence
 , i was passing by the cinema few days ago and i saw a poster of it that it'll be on in few days  so i went to the "premiere" and i must say... it's a helluwa great movie! the movie is about two young boys, andrey and ivan (vanya), who live with their mother and grandmother. one day their father (whom they never saw) pays them a visit... noone knows why did he come back and from where... the next day he decides to take the kids go fishing and so they go on a (what should have been one day) trip... and what an experience that was...  that movie is sooo realistic... i could imagine EVERY situation they got in... and felt pretty bad for the kids when they got bashed by their father... but that's the way it is, i'm sure he only wanted best for them and to grow tougher than they were at the moment. in some point of the movie a friend of mine said "man, he really "steels" them" (it's our way to say "toughens", but more "brutal"), and that was so true it's a movie you just have to see! the music is also great, though there's not much of it... mostly ambiental, but suits the atmosphere very well. i'd just like to point out that (as in lilja) there is no happyend and you could feel somewhat down, and full of impressions... like me

i watched the movie about a year ago and loved it. recommend everyone to see it. i think that movie won the award on venice film festival in 2003.

I was reading about this film on imdb and it turns out that the older brother drowned shortly after the film was shot.

I can't say I understood what was happening. The father was enigmatic and evil all the way through. Was he a criminal, did he come back from prison? what was in the box? Did we get to know about his past and I missed it?
Yet another movie I didn't understand

i wouldn't agree that father was evil all the way... he wasn't there for the kids in the past so now he wanted to make up for all the missed moments... i believe he only wanted best for the kids, but in somewhat "raw" way. i wouldn't say he was in prison, more like in the army, navy or something... and that's why i think his actions were justified...
and what was in the box... it's pretty much like pulp fiction, if you catch my drift
