That doesn't make her an instant classic, her place in pop music history will be tiny.
In my eyes it looks like a fantastic marketing ploy, and the music is not half-bad either.

The question is, will there be a Lady Gaga in 5 years? I very much doubt it.
Do you know how many people said there would be no Lady GaGa in 2010 when she was first signed and started touring in 2008? - Many. And I'm positive that taking away 8 VMA's in one night, plus the countless other awards she's won, playing for the queen, and being the only artist to ever achieve success like she has (for a specific list, just ask) in only two years time will forever cement her place into the world of pop music. Lady GaGa is what our generation will think of as pop music. Talent and commercialism all in one. And finally, I'm not sure WHAT marketing ploy you're referring to - since MTV and other major networks initially refused to play her music, air her videos or even recognize her at all because she was not a priority artist. Look at her growth and her development and study it - you'll find very little of it was due to any marketing at all. The bitch got famous on talent and hard work in an industry that usually did all the work for the "artist". Look at her tours, look at her private life, and study all of her. You'd get it then.
