That's why Arististotel claimed democracy was chaos. The masses in general tend to be backwards and conservative in their way of thinking. Liberalism is the way of elite intelectuals. It's not something an average man would consider as "normal", at all. Normal would be considered the pater familias type of situation the Middle East is in now.
