It had come to the point that Terry could predict, with a fair certainty, who was going to give 12 points to whom, both East and West and I think he realised that the fun had gone out of it, at least for him.
Rumours were he had a crate of Baileys in the commentory box, which he would consume as the night wore on, resulting in ever stranger comments over the course of the programme. Apparently, over the last couple of years, he had allegedly started on the Baileys before he even went on air.
It is a shame, as his comments made the contest vaguely watchable and Graham Norton is no substitute and is likely to replace wit with vulgarity.
