Why does she has to be lesbian? Or for that matter why do some one them need to be reinvented as asian or black? Who cares what ethnicity or sexuality my designated superhero is... as long as they save the day it's all good.
I doubt many people these days find their idols in superheros like they did in the 50s and 60s anyway.
