I disagree with that, the "American" pronoun is a little vague demeaning. Plenty of quality cafes can make an appropriate drink if the barista knows what's going on. And you really don't need a "small" cup to brew a cappuccino. A six ounce will do the trick. However, many commercial cafe's such as Starbucks (sadly) - do "burn" the espresso - and unless you order an actual cappuccino you will receive a larger portion in a commercial cafe.
