Vintazh (Vintage)

I am in love with this group. Does anyone know anything about the new song "Derevya" or why they are making a video for "Malchik" when it was released in their now 2 year old album? I'm confused. :D

Vintage (Russian: Винтаж, transliterated as "Vintazh") is a Russian pop group formed in 2006 by the singer Anna Pletneva, musician Alexei Romanov and dancer Mia, who was replaced by Svetlana Ivanova. They have released 3 albums and eight radio singles, four of which headed the Russian radio-charts

Love this band!!

I accidentally found them one time on YouTube for my Russian pop mix. I love these songs from them:

Roman
Eva
Mama-America
Mikki (dedicating to Mickey Mouse)
Mama Mia
Sleepwalking Girls (I forgot the Russian name for it; but the video involves Anna as a prostitute) and many others.

A bit different from Vintazh's usual work. Wonder if the script for the clip was again from Anya as in most of their other clips. (The mind of that woman is really off-key :chupa: ) Director Tkachenko did a good job I think. By the way, his video for MakSim's new song 'Oskolki' was released practically at the same time, but it's really boring.

Unusual that they released the clip so early. 'Mama Amerika' has left the top 30 just recently and would be in the charts at least two more months.

The studio albums:

2007 - Kriminal'naya lyubov': has some gems - especially 'Gomen Nasai' with it's haunting chorus or 'Mama mia'.
2009 - Sex: one of the top albums of Russian pop - one hit song after the other.
2011 - Anechka: a bit disappointing. The top songs are already released, the new ones are not really strong ones.

A few anecdotes about the group:

Before 'Vintazh' Aleksej Romanof was 7 years in the group 'Amega' under the great producer and composer Andrej Groznyj, who produces the most popular girlgroup of Russia, 'Blestyaschie', as well. He tried then a solo project, but somehow failed to present himself to the public. He confessed once that he can sing Groznyj's songs well, but it doesn't really work with his own songs (although he is a great composer - not only for 'Vintazh' - he wrote already several hit songs for other Russian stars).

Anya Pletnyova, 34 years and three children, was in the girlgroup 'Litsej' for 8 years with 5 released albums. The producer fired one of the girls shortly before a tour, and so she got in the group. The producer gave her a package of sheets with thirty songs to learn for the tour and a guitar. "Wait, I can't play guitar!" - "No problem, you have enough time to learn it. The tour begins in two weeks!" (*big giggle*). Well, nobody complained at the tour that she couldn't do her job.

One day in 2006, after she had quit her girlsgroup job, she was on the way to an important meeting (too fast), when she crashed into the car of Aleksej Romanof. While waiting for the police, Aleksej told her about his problems with his solo career and Anya came to the conclusion "You need me!" Of course, a girl destroys your car and tells you that you need her - convincing logic! :) For Aleksej anyway, and the group was founded.

They wanted to name their group 'Chelsea', they even asked politely the owner of the soccer club Roman Abramovich, but he decided for a boygroup to be allowed to take the name. After throwing several other proposals into the waste basket they decided for 'Vintazh' - Anya once remarked that they both have already a career behind them and actually are pretty old for starting a new pop career, kind of Vintage...

So belatedly in love with Винтаж. Деревья and Мама-Америка are my favorite tracks currently. Along with a lot more of "Анечка", especially "Лолита" - absolutely beautiful. I'm just now adding SEX to my collection. Happy listening.

As far as my research goes, Vintazh will release a new album on February 13th called "Very Dance". It will basically be an album of collaborations they have done with DJs in Russia, including the singles:

Moscow (ft. DJ Smash): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEGcN...E6BD294E425F58

Na Na Na (ft. Bobina): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vob4r...E6BD294E425F58

Tansui Poslednii Raz (ft. Roma Kenga): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOgWA...E6BD294E425F58

Svezhaya Voda (ft. ChinKong): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLYMN...E6BD294E425F58
