Tatysite.net Mobile

Facebook.com and Myspace.com have set up special services for mobile users. I think this would be a cool idea for tatysite.net too! Like every time they update their news or something, we get a sms/text message of it or some other type of content for mobiles. Does anyone else like this idea?

Administrators, do any of you think this would be possible?

Rachel 08-06-2007 04:21

Does this help or are you specifically asking for a text msg?

For a text message. :)

The mobile features here only work if your phone has internet capabilities & if you have service for them. I'm wondering if it's possible for tatysite to actually send a message out containing their homepage news updates. Thank you for helping though. :)

Rachel 08-06-2007 04:32

I'm guessing that would cost *a lot* of money to set up, especially if you are sending a message to several thousand people. I think that kinda service is only reachable for big businesses :/

But maybe I'm wrong, I guess we'll have to wait to see what Igor has to say :)

Any reason for the safety pin?

Nothing bad like before. Im all brand new.
I use it rarely when my Zen freezes up. It has
a very deep tiny reset button need a safety pin to reset it.

Sorry if I said to much

the site works perfectly fine on my phone - except now that there are animated avatars i can tell it is a tiny bit slower...
America is SO behind when it comes to mobile services.. and that sms idea is not that great for here, as most phone companies here CHARGE you when you recieve a message unless you've bought a messaging plan - which i find totally absurd... i mean, you cannot control who and when sends you messages! please!

What the hell, that is INSANE and totally up for abuse! What a horrible money-making scheme :bum:

How much are you charged to receive & send msgs over there?

hmm, well, i used to have T-Mobile until recently and i know that they charge you to send or receive sms unless you buy a plan:

Text messaging is one more way you can customize your phone to your life. Send and receive messages for just $0.15 each or choose from a Messaging Value Bundle to save even more—and if you exceed your plan, it’s still just $0.15 per message.

Any 400 Domestic Messages
$4.99 per month

Any 1000 Domestic Messages
$9.99 per month

Unlimited Domestic Messages
$14.99 per month

i now switched to ATT or Cingular and i think they dont charge you for receiving sms.. or at least it was so when i had them, before going to T Mobile....those two are the only GSM networks, so i only stay with them so that i can unlock and use my phones in Europe with euro sim cards

When i get my bill i will check if i am being charged to receive... but i pay about $80-100 a month for something like 600 minutes weekday daytime and unlimited night and weekend minutes + Unlimited web browsing
Thats why i dont get why all the american kids all of a suddent decided that its cool to sms.. i mean in europe it makes sense as it is WAY cheaper, but you get SO many minutes here that it is imposible to talk them all for the month and all evening and weekend its unlimited... so like, why the hell sms when you can CALL for no additional coast?!

Unfortunately not because the site is not a million dollar affair. The only mobile option is as specified by Rachel.

Nearly all American's and especially people in their teens/early adulthood have SMS messaging unlimited though. To many Americans, we think you're phone system is actually a bit weird. I'm not sure about throughout all Europe, but I know in Croatia many people just buy whats called a credit or "Cred". Tamara from Fatal used to ask me to text her GF all the time when she was out of cred. Then again, maybe she was just a moron and used a prepaid cell phone. American phone companies also have other benefits though - such as free night and weekend calling and coverage all over the country as well as calling for free to foreign countries.

Oh. T-Mobile is actually German as well. It's not an American company. But they do follow American cell traditions for America.

forre 08-06-2007 08:35

Talyubittu, American phone network (both land and mobile) is old and costy. It needs to be upgraded but it'd be so expensive that it's put on a delay. So, no upgrade yet. And yes, European phone network has a more advanced technology. The administrative costs are so low that I call all Europe, USA, Canada, Russia for free. As for the mobile, I call for free all eveings and all weekends. SMS is so cheap, that I never bother to check. It's never been an issue with another words.

Talyubittu 08-06-2007 08:44

Weird.

I'm not on the same plan as my family is, I have one with my grandma :).

She pays$65 something a month on Sprint/Nextell for our phones, and my parents pay $167 for three phones on Alltel service.

It is a bit costly but, thats normal to Americans.

forre 08-06-2007 08:54

Talyubittu, The upgrade will come for sure but just not yet. It's still cheaper than it was 15 years ago, so such services are getting better and cheaper.

Very expensive...I have Verizon Wireless..omg bills up to $100 a month..
I call Mexico alot..but what i find most rip off about it..is that i cannot text
other countries...If i text to my cousins in Mexico..they wont get the messege
but if they text me..i get the messege. Same with Euro contries..

Does anyone one, what cell phone company allows texting to other countries?

The ones available in my area are
T-Mobile
Amp'd
Sprint/Nextel
Cingular/AT&T
Verizon

Forgot to mention...most of these companies ask for a shit load of Deposit..
Verizon charged me $500
T-Mobile would charge me $500
Sprint would charge me $175
Cingular/AT&T would charge me $35
and i dont know about Amp'd

Damn. On my cellphone I have 125 minutes / 250 textmessages every month for E15,- and that's all it costs me. And at the normal phone we call for free to other "normal" phones in Holland. And I have Vodafone, and that has a lot of actions like "Call for free to other Vodafone numbers in the NL".. Sounds all pretty expensive to me in the USA.. :^)

Cingualr and Verizon i believe are the only ones
that u can talk to other people of the same company
for free. Thats why i got verizon, most of my friends have
verizon..but they are now all changing to Cingular..so i guess
Ill change too.

As for me when i got my phone it was pretty expensive..but i still got it

$500-Deposit
$35- Activation fee
$50-Montly fee
$150- Cell phone
$735-Total
