What do you guys think of Vinyl?

I recently bought 3 of the 4 White Stripes records on vinyl and for some reason I bought the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album on vinyl today. Now I already have the CD versions of the albums. Heck, I have 2 copies each of White Blood Cells and Elephant (The White Stripes). One American and one Japanese. Now here's the the kicker, I have no record player. I put one on order. Now, as if the subject line doesn't speak for it's self. What do you guys think of vinyl in general?

That is, if it's a good idea to go spend my hard earned dollars on this stuff?

As for me I'm just hoping Elephant might sound as it was intended to sound on vinyl. The White Stripes have a thing for recording on pre-digital stuff.

well,

i usually get vinyl so that i can mix better live (i have a CD turntable thing-numark, the best) but since i spin hip-hop it's just so much better doing it on vinyl.

but noticing ur choice of music, i'd suggest to just stick to CD's ... since they sound better (especially with all the digi effects)

if u wanna get a record player, get somethign so ridiculously cheap that'll allow u to just play it (no scratching tip, no 's' shaped rod)

oh and another thing... vinyl costs as much (sometimes more expensive) than CD's ... so i'd say stick to CD's (they'll last the longest with the best sound)

but vinyl is cool .. plain and simple :) so have fun with it :)

.?.

Well, I'm getting a Stanton. It's $200. The cheapest I was able to find at an electronics store was a Sony for like 130 or 140. That's with no head.

I had some vinyls when little.. now i'm more of an MP3 person. Lol. However, my uncle has over 5000 of them... mostly 80's and 90's music. He has a PUB. :D

Vinyl rules. I collect obscure hardcore/punk records(mostly 7", and some 12" and a few 10")
