I came across this happy sex change story, i thought i would post it since it's nice to read a story where things went well.

Interestingly, her sexual orientation changed as well, i don't know if it's rare or common for a person to develop an opposite sexual orientation after a sex change.


Feel free to turn this into a general transsexual/transgender discussion if there's any interest in it.

Doesn't it take a looong time to go through a complete "transformation"? I mean, can you really just BUY a sex-change? I mean, the hormones and everything... that doesn't come with a surgery.

Edit: Oh, wait, I totally missed the hormone thing.. it's like, RIGHT THERE. D'oh.
But stiiiilllll... it just sounds too good to be true! Like she just went to the doctor one day and he was all like "Let's give you some hormones!", I mean, from what I understand, it takes a really long time for anything to happen at all, a long struggle. Never heard of anyone who had gone through a total sex change at the age of 18, hormones and boobs and all.

I was thinking all that queenbee, I mean, he was too young to have a sex change, u have to go under two years of psycological treatment, hormones threatmen, and stuff like that, but i´ve heard that if u start the hormone theatment sooner, then the ppl gets better results, so, who knows, i googled her name and found nothing

The Psychological assesments can take up to two years, but not for every person. Each persons time table is different, it's tailored toward each person and their situation... money unfortunately is also a factor.

It's true that the sooner well younger a person starts hormone therapy, the better the results. Especially for MtFs, hormones can only give, they can't take away as a general rule. If an MtF transition after they've completed a male puberty, hormones will not make their voice higher once it's dropped, nor will it remove facial and body hair once it starts to grow. Things like muscle mass and fat distribution can and do change with hormones.

FtMs usually fair better results on hormones. The voice tends to drop within the first two months of starting treatment. Muscles develop faster and fat redistributes in a more typical male pattern. If hormones are taken before puberty ends (between 15-21 years old) it is possible a person could grow assuming there are still growth plates. The other thing that happens to a biological female taking androgens is the Clitoris grows... in some cases up two inches.

She looks smokin' hot, indeed, but her voice wasn't nice at all. Not the accent, no... I can live with that :) But to me she sounded like she was either a "man" or had been smoking cigarettes for 30 years. Obviously she hadn't done the latter... :D

well, I never really understood how you make a penis out of vagina...

I can think how someone could make a penis from a vagina, as the clitoris and the penis in the womb starts out as the same thing, so I guess there's some trick there. What I can't understand is how a man can get all the stuff that women have! Hehehe. But you know... hormones injections can do alotta weird stuff I guess. If someone in here knows about these stuff please enlighten me. I've actually been wondering about these things - but I'm too lazy to look it up :D

Male to Female Sex Reassignment Surgery
The first thing to know is that a transsexual is sterile. The MtF surgery includes the removal of the testicles. The Penis is "inverted" in what is called a Vaginoplasty... essentially, the head becomes the clitoris and the shaft the vaginal canal. The scrotom is used to create the Labia Minora and Majora.

A Transwoman will never have a period, because she doesn't have a uterus or ovaries. She will also need to continue injecting female hormones the rest of her life, but at lower doses because there aren't any more Androgen producing gonads. Also to keep the new vaginal canal from collapsing, she'll have to dilate or stick a dildo in there for a few minutes several times a day for the rest of her life.

Female to Male Sex Reassignment Surgery
Transmen have two options at the moment. One is called a Phalloplasty in which the skin on the forearm is used to create a Penis. This surgery is done in about 3-4 steps taking up to a year to complete. There are many... many complications associated with this surgery and only 2% of all FtM SRS are Phalloplasties... so I'm not going into details.

The other option is called a Metoidioplasty, which is quite simply put a release of the ligament attached to the Clitoris. As I mentioned in an above post, Testostorone causes the Clit to elongate and grow... up to two inches in some cases. Cutting the ligament that holds the Clit under the hood allows it to come forward... it essentially looks like a micro-phallus after the procedure.

The second step is a vaginectomy and hysterectomy or quite simply the removal of the Ovaries, Uterus and vaginal canal. A scrotom is fashioned out of the Labia Majora and silicon implants are used to create "testicles"

Interesting facts. I wonder though if artificial sex organs like these function even remotely similar to the real thing. For one thing I doubt an artificial penis (be it by metoidioplasty or phalloplasty) is able to achieve an erection properly. Or am I wrong?

But still, so much about the female of the species being more complex; you can create an almost perfect - anatomically- girl out of a boy but when it comes to reconstructing a penis science is in deep waters.

You ar correct bout a Phalloplasty not being able to achieve a true erection on it's own... that's why they put an optional rod in...

However with a Metoidioplasty it is entirely possible to have an erection just like a bio-male... except that it'll be no longer than 2-3 inches... maybe 3.5 if you're extremely lucky. Believe it or not a clitoris is actually made of the same tissue as a penis... girls' clits do get erect when they're horny :laugh:

Almost the same. I mean it's the same tissue in general, but the nerve endings are much closer together in a clit, which is then con sequently much more sensitive than a penis.
