Kaliningrad, Russian exclave within the EU
 

The Russian exclave of Kaliningrad is experiencing a massive economic boom, Russia wants to turn the region into "the Russian Hong Kong".
Even though Kaliningrad is now completely surrounded by the EU, economic exchanges with the EU are nearly inexistant, making the region's growth totally dependant on Russia.

If the level of life continues to increase in Kaliningrad faster than in the rest of Russia, i'm wondering if the region may eventually be tempted by independance (to possibly join the EU).
There are also talks of giving back its old name to the city, Konigsberg or possibly the shorten form Kyonig.

Lots of talks. Russia will never grant a border line territory any independence. They could cope with the name change. Not a big deal politically.
