Haha, I don't believe you! There's no other country which has more compositions running at the contest than Sweden. A good part of the half billion kronor yearly (not national) copyright income has it's reason in the song contest, which is Sweden's biggest advertising platform. A lot of Swedish people take the ESC very serious!

You haven't seen Austrian's "Musikantenstadl" - that's a million times deeper (although not a competition). No, the song contest isn't that bad. Most performers can sing pretty well and the songs are much the same level as the music played in the typical mainstream channels.

There are always 10 to 20 percent really good ones in every contest, even in the national selections. Unfortunately the people with musical taste usually refuse to vote, so they rarely get into the limelight. Last year's Italian entry was one of those gems, wasn't it?

The song still sounds good to me.

I do agree Yulia brought a lot of improvement with the performance, but it's still sad once we realize she can't really sing anymore. But it's nice to see her try, and her stage persona really improved! Nice.

On the other hand, the song sucks. Bad, bad choice! Equally boring and common.

Anyway, they should have won. The grannies are cute, but that's about it.

P.S.: I'm sorry to say it, but Yulia's gotten even more destructive! She looks as awful as she never did before!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I pity her so much. :o

Haha, the first sentence is probably true :D, but sensing the vibe around me; old, young, gay, hip or fans of "dansbandsmusik", I really can't find any people that would seriously consider Eurovision. It's become incredibly out of fashion (not that it would matter if it really were in fashion to me).

Hmm, no I have never seen it. Maybe I should research it? One of the reaons I still come to tatyite are a few people, like you Argos :D. I will look it up for sure!

Can't remember. I should have a listen to it. One of my favourites of Eurovision are Zeljko Joksimovic and his Serbian contribution in 2004 "Lane Moje": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByJ3eeBsktw is brilliant IMO; he's also contributing this year, but this song doesn't affect me nearly as much as in 2004.

You know a lot for a person that doesn't care about Eurovision :)

You have to wait for your late 50's or later. :D ESC was probably out of fashion for a looong time. Nevertheless it has this exotic feeling that Europe has something in common. There is of course no seriousness in the competition, but as a meet-and-greet of the music business it's as important as in the first years.

This was his contribution for last year.

I hardly remembered it, way too distracted by some wild dances, I guess. :D My guilty pleasure of the last years was Estonia in 2009. Unfortunately the lead singer's heart slipped down to the pants and she disappointed a bit vocally, and she choked her fiddle throughout her whole performance. :bum:

I would seriously never vote even for the great songs. :D

This selection is a pure crap haha.
