Ok, inspired by eurovision, I decided to make this thread where you can discuss/give links to/request links to song from your country, from other countries, etc.

Since I am starting this, I am going to give links to few of the Bulgarian pop-folk (aka Chalga) type of songs - yes, they are very cheesy (just like the Eurovision winner), but I shamelessly admit that i have CDs and that i blast them in my car while i drive and sing along :rev:

Here are some full lenght songs from Kamelia's (http://www.bulgariancds.com/d-prdimages/prd-484.gif) album titled "Something HOT" :

Kamelia - song 1 (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ZF21ZKSJZ1G33V219FVZ2MZ14)

Kamelia - song 2 (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3O5VLBYJ8FWAH2GIVKIYLYG9AE)

Kamelia - song 3 (http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=14LSTIU63KJ403VIAHPIQKRZF1)

One last one of The Transvestite Azis (http://www.books.bg/Covers/Items/Big/843.gif) in live duet with Gloria (http://www.bulgariancds.com/d-prdimages/prd-697.gif) :

Azis + Gloria - song 1 (http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2ZWY8IMMOZ3YK377HAIS9TU3AT)

anyone? I am willing to download any type of ethno music and expand my horizon :D ...esp fellow Balkaniers with your Turbo Folk :heh:

:p well, I thought Id be the only one posting here ...

I would really enjoy any song sang in swedish :lalala: ... or.... rapping in French :gigi:

but anyways, i am here, because a football game with Croatia is coming up for Bulgaria and by accident I just listened to a song that is "a must" or like "the anthem" for bulgarians when it comes to football, so I thought I'd share. It is sang by the guy who was supposed to be representing us at Eurovision before the vote trickery occured.

http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2NEGTX4OVFUKD0KDER8UHKIJXL

This one you get with the lyrics

Win or Loose - We Will Still Get Drunk!

You're Bulgarian daddy, an old Balkanian
Tell me, daddy, how do you survive?
Sonny, mother's son, remember this
My living philosophy:

Win or Loose - We will still get drunk
For good or for bad - we are Bulgarians
Win or Loose - We will still get drunk
For good or for bad - we are Bulgarians

You're Bulgarian, daddy, you've seen everything
Teach me, daddy, how to win
Sonny, mother's son, remember the secret
We are better looking, and we are more skilled

Win or Loose - We will still get drunk
For good or for bad - we are Bulgarians
Win or Loose - We will still get drunk
For good or for bad - we are Bulgarians

OPA and :coctail:

you arent scaring us Croatia, 'cause we will still get drunk even if you beat us!

Well, i have most of Kent's swedish songs after Hagnesta Hill album (i own the swedish version in CD form, as opposed to their English album, haha).

But, i have some Nordic songs... but their in English. And Icelandic, but i bet you know Sigur Ros.
Hrmmm, nope... i don't have anything really more than that. IceCream sent me some cool German music a few days ago, the one song is really good. Symphonie by Silbermond?

ohhh, GErman is good :chupa: the only German thing I have is Run Lola Run soundtrack and it only has 1 song in german (with a remix of it)
so, yeah, German would be great :D

rapping in French
You asked for it.

Here's a few songs from IAM, an extremely famous rap band from Marseille, they are the archetype of Arab-French rap bands which dominates the French music scene nowadays. This is what young French people listen to, at home, in the streets, or blasting in their cars cruising in the suburbs (and this is what France should send to the ESC if they wanted to send something that is actually popular here).

The band (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/iamband.jpg), needless to say, with faces like that and French passports, those guys would never pass US customs and end up directly in Guantanamo.
Their logo (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/iamlogo.jpg), with an obvious influence from arabic calligraphy.

Some typical songs...
J'aurai pu croire (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/112.zip)
L'ecole du micro d'argent (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/205.zip)
Planete Mars (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/105.zip)

Their first hit...
Je danse le mia (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/108.zip)
Song about the OM (Marseille's football club)
Le feu (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/110.zip)
A song for Star Wars fans...
L'empire du cote obscur (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/203.zip)

And some more for people who are not tired yet...
Hold-up mental (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/102.zip)
Reste underground (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/111.zip)
Nes sous la meme etoile (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/204.zip)
Independenza (http://perso.modulonet.fr/pambroise00/tatysite/207.zip)

thank you all for the links :10x:

I have to admit, I nod my head to rap/hip-hop, esp if its sang in another language than english :gigi:
I enjoyed all - French, Coroatian, Danish - although the last 2 were a bit slow for my linking ...

I've tried searching and searching for full version of Bulgarian Rap and Hip Hop (obviously I dont own such CDs to rip them off), so I've only found 30-40 sec clips, but that way you can fastly check it out and dont get bored :gigi:

Here are few:
This is the 'real' bad boy/biggest 'Gangsta' of the BG Rap - he is like our Dr Dre
Misho Shamara (Misho 'the Slap') "Loshite Momcheta" (The Bad Boys) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=139)
Misho Shamara feat. Benjamini - "Vsichki Palavnici" (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=138)

And those are my favs, because they write super funny sarcastic lyrics that make fun of the Bulgarian reality!

Upsurt - "Gangsteri" (Gangstas) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=286)
Upsurt - "Iskam Tvoito Tialo" (I want your body) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=287) 'lele maiko' means 'mama mia'
Upsurt - "Zhenata na Shefa" (THe Boss's Wife) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=288) - this one is about the young construction worker fucking the boss's wife ha ha .. btw it is very describtive LoL
Upsurt - "I tvoita maika sashta" (Your mother as well) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wma&id=378)

Rumaneca i Enchev - "Zheni po prashki" (Women in thongs) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?inpage=1&id=25&type=wma) - and of course it starts with a school girl describing how every respectable girl in her school wears a thoung

Ok, i could only find one Hip Hop video clip:
Ustata (The Mouth) - "Vsichki Drehi mi Prechat" (All my clothes are in the way) (http://www.bulgariancds.com/cgi-bin/playsample.cgi?type=wmv&id=938)

if only Eminem would sit down and watch all those European white boys.... ha ha ha

http://64.185.229.142:8080/ramgen/bv/audio/091/191/1.rm - this one is by my FAVs Upsurt and its called "Pop-Folk" which is another name for Chalga

This is what i used to listen to @ 14/15 (http://64.185.229.142:8080/ramgen/bv/audio/015/20/7.rm) .. it is actually one of their best song (its a duo) and it features a famous bulgarian kaval player. (kaval is a national folk instrument)... but the voice of the guy singing :help:

Lil BG pop in the face of Rushi Vidinliev (http://64.185.229.142:8080/ramgen/bv/audio/117/192/5.rm) - "Lazhi me" = Lie to me

OMG, and here is some BG Reagge LoL (http://64.185.229.142:8080/ramgen/bv/audio/096/180/1.rm) - or whatever the hell that is! My cousin actually gave that CD as a present ... song is called: "Wiskey with peanuts"

http://64.185.229.142:8080/ramgen/bv/audio/091/191/7.rm - if you wanna hear tons of BAD BG words... i wonder how many you would recognize :gigi: I think the start with the cat is in Serbian? or something similar, but it isnt Bulgarian haha, but we have the same words (I can tell by the accent though)
"marshhhhhhhhhh .... cerna macka da mu eba pichkata maichina..."

"mama mu d'eba...da eba d'eba... "

Found this band from Argentina, they are sort of electronic, I really like what I have heard so far. They are Miranda!

Here are some videos:
Agua (http://popmiranda.com/agua.mov)

Bailarina (http://popmiranda.com/miranda_bailarina%201.mov)

Tu Juego (http://popmiranda.com/tu_juego.mov)

They guy looks very good and his voice sounds very feminine at times. :)

Ok, i'm really into the music of a Spanish band right now (the most successful Spanish band on an international level, I'm told), namely La Oreja de Van Gogh (The Ear of Van Gogh :gigi: ). Dunno why they have this funny name, but their music is divine! Here (http://www.laorejadevangogh.com/) is their official site. Scroll down and look to the lower left side where it says "Ingles" if you want it in English.

Anyway, i only have this Lo que te conte mientras te hacias la dormida (The things I told you while you were pretending to be asleep) album, which is their latest (even though it was released in 2003) and I would really appreciate if there are some fellow Latinos out there who have the previous two albums and are willing to share :coctail: Drop me a PM and I'll make it up to you! :rose:

I like some Spanish music, more like Julieta Venegas and Shakira's new Spanish album is rather surprising.

OMG, Shakira's new album totally rocks! :coctail: I was surprised as well since I didn't like the whole of "Laundry Service" (maybe only the singles) and I only liked one song from her previous work that I had heard which is "Ciega Sordomuda". So I reckon I had rather low expectations when starting playing her new one. But it's DAMN good! I dont skip any song. At first I didn't like "No" very much, but it grew on me. The only thing I dont like about this album is that it doesn't have more songs!

Has anyone listened to the new Sigur Ros album? It's very beautiful! My favourite songs are Glosoli, Hoppipolla, Saeglopur, and Gong.
Yes, I've listened to Takk, but didn't find it quite interesting, probably because I've only listened to it once and without paying a lot of attention to it.
I don't like all of Sigur Ros, only 5 songs from Agaetis Byrjun and most of ( ).
