Melanie C (the former Sporty Spice) releases a new single and album in April.
The single is Next Best Superstar - out on 4 April.
The album is Beautiful Intentions - out on 11 April.

Be warned, they are an excitable bunch in there :)
I will only ask that if you like what you hear, you will buy the single or album when they are released. I will, but then I've been waiting since June last year when she previewed half a dozen of the new songs on a short tour. All I've had since then have been the live bootlegs :eek:

I saw for the first time at the Astoria in December 2003, then at the Camden Barfly in June and Islington in September. I will be seeing her again in April.
She puts on a great show, especially in small sweaty venues. She's become one of my favourite live artists because she's always fun, not to mention she usually has problems with her bra :D
You might want to try again, Mossopp, you might like her. She's playing Glasgow King Tuts on 26 April.

I have no idea why I even went to see her the first time. I plead temporary insanity.
She's not that bad. IMO from ex-Spice Girls she is making best music.

i'm a bit excited about Mel's comeback, and these new songs are good (i've been following it for a few weeks)... i think she comes out with good pop songs and has an intoxicating voice... really, and i think she's pretty geniune, unlike other acts...
being in the states though, i've never seen her live but i've heard bootlegs and they seem pretty fun (actually, i've never been to any kind of rock/punk or pop show :rolleyes: sadly), i couldn't even get her album unless i shelled out some major shipping costs

I picked the NRJ video up from a torrent a few days back, and I really like it. Her accent's terrible and she forgot a line, but then she often forgets lines that she wrote in English, so nothing unusual there :D
There's rumours of a new album coming out by Christmas. As her current European dates finish at the end of July, I suppose it's possible, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

wow it was a topic of conversation in here in 2004 i think...that was the time melanie c kinda lost her popularity and when she tried to get some attention in a kick-box match with Azra she was beaten.all i know is that.
mulder probably knows about it, he's quite the Mel C expert LOL He's seen her live several times, I've only seen her once :(

BTW what fanoff was talking about is "The Games", a show on Channel 4 in the UK where celebs performed sports (athletics, swimming etc). Melanie was in a judo match with Azra Akin and tore three ligaments in her knee. No beating up, just a bad accident.

Obezyanki I have various bootlegs where she does a live version with her guitarist taking the Bryan Adams part, although it's more a duet over the whole song. I'll try and dig out a decent version and upload it sometime.

Melanie C did a small gig at the Hard Rock Cafe in London on 11 October 2006 as part of a series of events for a Breast Cancer charity.
Some of the songs were filmed from the audience and can be downloaded from www.melaniecfanclub.com - go to the multimedia section. There are 6 of them and they are in mov format. The quality, both visual and audio, is good.
Note that the website throws sound at you whether you want it or not, so put the file names into a download manager and get off the site for a better download speed.
Melanie did an appearance on a breakfast TV show (GMTV for those in the UK) and she did two versions of Northern Star (one at 7.40 am and the other at 9.15 am).
They were both capped by AlexeiMV who I assume is the same person who gives us those great Yulia Savicheva caps.

New Melanie C releases for anyone who's interested.
Melanie will release a single on 16 March in Germany, Austria and Switzerland called “The Moment You Believe”. It will be used for the spring advertising campaign for TV show “Nur die Liebe sahlt”.
Her next UK single will be released on 26 March. It is an old track called “I Want Candy" (previously released by Bow Wow Wow amongst others) and is the title song from the forthcoming movie of the same name.
Finally, her new album "This Time" will be released on 2 April in the UK. Production credits include Stephen Hague and Guy Chambers.

thanks mulder... it's kind of dissapointing to see mel resulting to cover songs and "the moment you believe" is nice, but it's a bit too "evanescense crossed with like coldplay" for me... hopefully she can make another good album out of these...

"Moment" is too simliar to "First Day of My Life" for me , and "First Day" is much better I think. Still, it should do well in Germany and some of the other European countries. She seems to have developed a large number of fans out there.
I'm just hoping the album is decent and she can fit in a concert in the UK at some point. She's one hell of a live performer.

The rumourmill suggests it will be on the album, but there's no firm tracklisting known at present.
