is that photoshopped? doesn't look like it, great pic.
its not photoshopped. thanx on the comment.
What's the big deal with photoshopping? It's great when you don't have enough natural light for instance. There's no camera in the world that can produce great colours at grey and dark environment. Before, photographers had expensive labs to work directly on their films before printing. Ordinary people couldn't naturally afford this. Now, when we have digital photography and even film pics are scanned first and printed after, graphic editors do the job instead of labs. It's the same as musicians use computers when mastering their music.
Photoshop is great to give a special atmosphere too.
Lotsa fotoshoooop (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/851852/f_1417459.jpg)

there is no big deal. i was only wondering if it is. the brightness in the hue of the window has a big contrast with everything else in the photo. digital photography is great and very popular these days, but to me it's a little inorganic and i prefer great manual work.
i know a bunch of photographers, many of whom go to ICP or pratt, or SVA, or Savannah
the brightness in the hue of the window has a big contrast with everything else in the photo.
The colour was naturally great plus the window was lit by the sun. Indeed, the pic is great. It has something. It speaks to you.
i prefer great manual work.
It's still labs and still tools to enhance the photo. They still reframe the pics in those labs. It's not so much different than "crop" in graphic editors. You still need to have an eye to crop the pic correctly. Photoshop doesn't do it automatically. ;)
Look at this (http://img.liveinternet.ru/images/foto/1/851852/f_1412366.jpg). This is a 35 mm film camera. The pic is taken on the fly from a moving car. It's all about the light anyway. I used photoshop to rotate the pic and to put a frame. The colours are still authentic though.
that is true, when it comes to editing, graphic editors are pretty handy. a friend of mine is one of the best printers around and she does all her work manually. her manual work is based more on skill and technique, rather than how advance and accurate the technology is. either way, i like her work, and much of the manual work i've seen. that doesn't mean digital/graphic work isn't great, i just haven't gotten around to fully accepting it. but many people are doing it that way these days. and many more will.
Then again. The example I gave shows that I could do the same manually because it was about rotating and framing the pic. Then, I would use scanner to scan it. I would just spend more time using scissors instead of a mouse. Postprocessing is used either way. It's just many more talented people have a chance to show their work as the technology became available to more people nowadays.
Photographers generally are closed and envious people. They can't accept that the tools are less exclusive now. It's not about art any longer. It's about personal attitudes.
i agree with both points. while it is great that more people can edit their work using technology, the people who started with and are accustomed to manual work have a very different attitude. it's almost like a clashing of worlds in a sense because many people still accredit manual work as THE way to do it. and graphic work is new, popular, and provides for new ways to do things, and different ways as well, creates a bit of envy on the other side.

XSpex, your pics are very good because it isn't s easy to get a such "net/focus/clearness" in all the parts when you take a picture with a so close distance.
Have you used macro option or have you just approched your lens very close to the flowers ?
Whoa. Those macros are so impressive.
I couldn't dream of details like that with my cams. That must be some high end camera you own, or you're just a photo genious. Or both.

nath, thank you for your comments :). I used the zoom of the camera for a couple of pictures, I'm not sure if that's the macro option you mentioned. Well, the rest I just took them approaching to the flower that was rather small, so it took me to many blury shots to finally get what I wanted.
btw, those crying trees picture is very cool, things so cold... quite the opposite around here, everything is green and very warm.

freddie, thank you very much for your comments (a photo genius ;), wow) I don't know if I am a genius, what I know is my camera is not the best, it's a sony cyber-shot DSC-P43, there are a lot of better things out there... but, you know, the flowers helped a lot, they were beautiful

Nice , nath ! ...but a little bit dark and scary for me ;)
Thanks Marina :) .
Da...I know...indeed i'm very dark in my tastes,inside...Truth...
But may be because you're an atheist ...;)
...for me it isn't dark, because there is light innonding Mary as if she would be in communion with the "Sky"... so there is a kind of Hope in this dark world...
:hmmm: i mean I had this idea in mind when I've made this photo...but it seems it has missed its target...

Oh , don't worry nath , other people could see it the same way as you do . Probably it's me who is thick ! More likely ...:o
No Marina! ...indeed it's interesting that people have different reactions face to a pic...
and I was kidding about ME not about you...Pravda!

de rien Nath... ;)
Do you like white&black pictures more than colour ones?
It depends...B&W could give more "distance", more unreal aspects sometimes...
I mean, sometimes, you have a colours pic but it "sticks" too much to the reality, to a precise moment...in changing it into B&W you can get a more timeless feeling...
Indeed I think that I prefere colours when I want to reproduce "something" ...some landscapes, for exemple..but I prefer B&W when I want to translate a feeling..
It depends really about the nature of the pics...I think I prefer B&W for the portraits..
I might be B&W inside myself :)

not a professional at all here...just it relaxes me to take pics....just my pleasure..
You should make pics...I'm sure if you 'd have some more interest for it during some time , your pics would be absolutely great...cause you have "the eye". :)

Looks like a snail. Citroen manufactured its DX series and I used to call them "crocodiles". Can't say they were very beautiful, I mean they were bloody ugly but had a wonderful comfort.

We called them "žaba" which means "a frog". :p ... does look like a frog a bit. And yeah, they were comfortable. Made you feel you were driving around on a magic carpet.

That really is beautiful :) I love the shadowy clouds across the sun. The sky can be so amazingly beautiful at times. I don't think I've ever seen a sunrise like that for myself. It always seems that here the sky just becomes a progressively lighter shade of grey :none:

There was a PRADA store... and a poor texan hired to clean the windows (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2948715630063929410uSmYDG?vhost=good-times)... you couldnt really shop there... its just a Funny installation.... expensive one as well LoL

I'm practicing for the most. Tennis is a bit tricky to shoot. Not the whole tournament. I got tix for all qualification and a couple of days in June. Got to check closer what I got.

thanks. it's in Lyon (here's the France map (http://www.interet-general.info/IMG/France-Carte-1-34.jpg) if you don't know where it is exactly)
the traboules are really peaceful, it's really cool

I have to specifically search for him. There are lots of courts and lots of people at the tournament and it's difficult to catch all of them.
I post my tennis pics here:

Hey people, it's been so long since I've been here and even longer since I posted. I love peeking at everyone else's photos and artwork, I've finally come to share some of mine!
I've just had a gallery exhibition of my work which I was very happy with - it was quite successful with sales, and I got some good press coverage and sales. You can see all the work from the show here:
http://www.simonstrong.com/
The works were printed very big and framed, and they've got lots of detail in them. I know they aren't very big on my flash site, but if people are interested I can upload higher res version.
I love to get any comments and criticisms... 8 pictures doesn't seem like much work, but it took me almost 18 months to do. I'm hoping to another show next year, and I'm off to Malaysia and Vietnam for 3 weeks to shoot lots of stuff for my next body of work.
Bring on the comment! (and extra extra points for those that can pick the russian pop-music references in my work!) :D

Sorry, I couldn't get the full one because my scanner is small and I'm too lazy to do the whole edit in the rest of it thing. You can look at some of my other drawings in the Photostream as well (to the right of the picture).
