the person has less than me in most things. How does it get them exactly?
Like forre said, it's because this member has been on the forum for over a year.

You get 1 more point in Rep Power for:
- Every year on the forum
- Every 1,000 posts
- Every 100 rep points

So in your case, you'll get more Rep Power when:
- We are in December 2005 (+1)
- You reach 1,000 posts (+1)
- You reach 100 rep points (+1)

And to be clear:
Reputation: It's the number of points that other members have given you.
Rep Power: It's the number of points that you can give to another member when you give them reputation.

I just wanted to add something to what i posted above, especially now that we have quite a few new members.

New members start with 0 rep power (and 10 reputation) which means they can't give (or remove) reputation to other members (but they can receive of course).
New members get their first rep power point as soon as they reach 30 posts, then they can start giving reputation. And after that first point at 30 posts, the rules in the above post apply.

This was made so new members who never post can't give or remove reputation to other members, it wouldn't be fair that people who never post can give or take points to people who do.

hey guys, look i wanna give people rep points for helping me, but its not doing it, i go to the little person tick thing then it just goes to insert nick name, join buddy list, etc....how can i give people rep? ive read through this thread and its still not helping me

mad_for_lena, The rep isn't in the nick options menue. To give rep points, you pick the post of the person and click on the "+" in the right upper corner of it.
