There are several christmas songs in Sweden, there is one that isn't very christmas like, but I like it.. I think it's called "Tдnd ett ljus" ("light a candle"). It's about lighting a candle and letting it burn when it's dark, for everything you believe in and for all the children of the world. It just came out on Christmas-cd, so I guess it's in the christmas category. I remember we used to sing it before christmas in school. I'm gonna go Swedish-christmas-songs-hunting. :done:

Yes, I just downloaded the song and came back here to write a message that I was just about to put the lyrics up.. In Swedish "Happy christmas" is "God Jul" but it means more something like "Good Christmas" :heh:

When I hear the usual mix of American Christmas music, I just think of Christmas as economic holiday. To feel like Christmas as a true holiday, I listen to German Christmas music. My father was born in Germany, and he always played German Christmas music when I was growing up.

cniaju, Oooo thanks for those.. I'll edit the message. Oh and there are many parodies on christmas songs. "Vеr julskinka har rymt", "Our christmas ham has escaped" was a very recent one I downloaded and haven't listened to the whole thing yet.

coolasfcuk, oh I really don't know if it is on the local radiostations, because I don't usually listen to radio :P The only radiostation I listen to (for example at friends' house) is NRJ... Haven't heard any christmas songs there yet. But if you want the christmas cd I could fix it as a christmas gift :heh:

On Guam, we just listen to American-version christmas songs, since we Chamorros don't have our own. Or, since we were influenced greatly by the Spanish, we sing Spanish songs, like Feliz Navidad :D, but we sing it in Chamorro. I'll try to hunt up some lyrics for y'all ;)

Found one. It's the Chamorro translation of 'Silent Night' :D

I feel in the mood to give a little chamorro language lesson here:
Just so you know, we pronounce the letter 'y' as something close to the sound of the letter 'z'. So, if you want to say "Yu'os" correctly (Yu'os means God), then you would pronounce it as "zu'os". If you see the letter 'a' with a small circle on top of it, then pronounce it like you are saying 'ah'.
If you see the letter 'n' with a little wavy line on top, then pronounce it like 'knee-eh', but quickly (like in spanish). When you see an apostrophe mark in a word, it means to make the letter immediately before it, short sounding...like staccato (don't sustain the sound, make it short).
There is no letter 'J' in the Chamorro alphabet, but we borrow the 'J' from the Spanish in some words, like 'Jesus', pronounced as 'Heh-Soos'.
