You are in Shadows

I know you are out there,
lurking in the shadows.
Are you enjoying your self-imposed exile?

Or are you doing what you always do?
Wailing about how nobody likes you,
and ignoring how hard you push everyone away.

I knew all about your history,
so I really have no excuse.
I was a fool to trust you,
to believe your promises.

But since you come
from the shallow end of the gene pool,
it's no wonder that going into deeper waters
would be far too much for you.
No matter how loud
my cries for help might be.

But I will not drown
in my pain or in your silence.
Because I will never be as alone,
as you choose to be.

One of the things I like about writing is that sometimes I can make something positive out of a bad situation. That poem certainly wasn't inspired by warm and fuzzy feelings. :) But I got a lot of pain and bitterness out of my system when I wrote it, so something good came out of it. Other people liking it is just an extra blessing.

Smack! right im my face!

this poem you wrote......
I can recognize my self in it as I were, a few years ago.
Fortunately I've made a better choice than the person adressed in the poem.
but it is a good reminder to me to what I could have become.
Yet now I'm able to look my self in the face, I am also able to appreciate this poem and what it says to the world.

And I'm very glad you made better choices than the person I was talking about in the poem. As much as she hurt me, I feel for how she treats herself now.
