Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a writer from colombia.. xD.. ok?;)

And Thalia? She's very famous too.. Don't forget her.
She isn't my favorite but she is important in our country.

I think one of the most successful and best groups from Mexico are
Belanova (the girl in my avatar is the lead singer) their 3 albums are great ... Cocktail (2002), Dulce Beat (2004) and Dulce Beat Live (2006) and sold so many copies!
Search them in Youtube if you like electropop

rebelde

Oh, I know them! They have TV series, don't they? I like their song "Yo soy rebelde, nananana..." Don't know the rest, but I watch the show sometimes... And my favourite is Ahani... Is that her name? Or something like that! ;)

Juan alfonso baptista

I know I've seen him in one TV show... Was he one of the brothers in "Passion De Gavilanes" or I'm wrong? Maybe he's from other show... :(

==> Serbian "stars" later! :)

There is one singer.

Her name is Dana International. she's a transgender (Did I spelled it right?) and she represented Israel once, at the Eurovision contest, with song called "Dive" and she won!

She is really loved here, and very famous in the whole world. I really like her and her music.

she is so provocative, and her messages are so damn good!

ahh... that's it. I hate hebraic songs, hate israeli movies, and I don't like any other artists... :bum:

Dimmu Borgir (http://www.magnum.com.tw/wallpaper/Dimmu%20Borgir%20Wallpaper_1024.jpg)
Black Metal legends. Not the first, but deffinetally the biggest ... in the whole world actually. Dimmu Borgir are probably the ones that has put Norway on the top internationally when it comes to black and extreme metal. Norwegian Black Metal is a brand name well known whereever you go. It's a symbol of status and quality in the extreme metal scene, and I think these guys are "to blame" for much of that.

Emperor (http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palladium/1747/emp_band.jpg)
Another legendary black metal band. With their very extreme, yet melodic sound they early became one of the biggest name in the underground black metal scene all around the world. Not quite as big as Dimmu Borgir, but had a much bigger impact on the genre as a whole.
... along with these chaps:

Darkthrone (http://www.vampster.com/images/gallery2/darkthrone_interview2006.jpg)
They more or less set the standard for what norwegian black metal should sound like. They were among the first. Today they still make albums in the same standard as in the early '90s with the same primitive sound. They refuse to play concerts or anything, cause that's for "pussies". Hehehe.

Mayhem (http://www.moonfrost.net/mayhem/gallery/band/bdc02.jpg)
What is there not to say about Mayhem? As one of the first norwegian black metal bands they have been through almost everything. They've really gone through the test of time. Everything from suicides, church burnings, murders, prison, bloody stage shows and huge line up changes. All the members has at one time been changed, but atm there are 2 old members and 2 "new" members (they've been there since the mid 90s when most things fucked up for this band). Despite all of this they have released high quality music.

... and from suicides, murders, church burnings and black metal we move over to some peaceful norwegian musician heroes:

a-ha (http://www.u2achtung.com/00/artistes/AHA/05.jpg)
From the day Take On Me hit #1 on the billboard single's list in '85 (was it? I believe it was! hehe) they've been pop music legends of the 80s. I had one teacher in german on junior high that moved to Norway because this is where a-ha came from. Extremely popular in Europe - and in USA too in the 80s - they will forever have the position as Norway's absolutely biggest musicians.

A couple of million records behind them you find names like Röyksopp, Kurt Nilsen ... Dimmu Borgir, hehehe ... Sondre Lerche and Lene Marlin. I don't like these fellows tho (well, a-ha, røyksopp and dimmu I love of course, but not the other guys. *yuck*). I guess you should be familiar with most of these names? :) I take it that M2M were pretty big in the states at a time. We didn't hear much about them here tho, and they're *yuck* as well. Hahahaha.

That were some Norwegian musician heroes. As I'm mostly interested in music that's I will mention. Hehehe.

Here in Portugal we have (or I like) the group Toranja and the singers Lucia Moniz and Pedro Abrunhosa. We have a cool hiphop group too, it's Da Weasel.
